Script Killing
Re: Script Killing
I miss my bbs.. :) I remember having to have like 12 people to go kill Adult Red Dragon and Delf Bitch.. and it would take us like an hour or 2 to go on the first quest. Back when u could only have 1 char due to dial-up (tho I always had 2 or 3 cuz I had 4 modems at the time) those were the days.. I miss em..
Re: Script Killing
I know it's part of the game. It happens. I do it to people myself every once in awhile, but mostly when they're at keys. When you can't get anything done because it happens 3-4 times a day, then it becomes a problem. Anyway, I returned to let the ops know I quit, and why, and was offered help by gang members of the people who were attacking me, so I stayed. There's just no point in playing when you can't do anything except reequip yourself. And one correction... as much as you hate the fact I'm here, I STILL run a bbs... You should have said "runs" and not "ran". Thank you, drive through.
Re: Script Killing
nod speed wish dialup mud was back only with a broadband conection heh
I've never had such a lag-free connection on -ANY- broadband board as I had on dialup. Dialup was as close to a local connection as you can get. There's always some degree of lag on a broadband board.

Re: Script Killing
The trick is to find a bbs that DOES have the option of pvp for those good ol tournys but everyone on the board is under a general umbrella of no pvp unless you wanna start something. People get fed up and tired of a game where one script hangs another and you never make it anywhere especially in this day and age where we arent 15 anymore and have no jobs. Most of us work 8-12 hour days now and come home and crash.
A board where you have dumbasses running around attacking your script to see if you hang is pretty lame. The fact of the matter is they are the 15 year olds we used to be and now we grew up and view life through a different perspective. PvP is an abbrev. for Player vs. Player not Script vs. Player/script. There should be rules of engagement for each pvp to make it fun and honorable. Granted this is just a game but whats the point of killing someone when that someone isnt even around to bitch up a storm back at you, try to kill you, or call your mama names.

I never ran around killing scripts when I was 15.

Re: Script Killing
That's why I like non-scripting boards in general, Megamud completely ruined this game for me the first time I was introduced to it, it seemed like the lamest thing I'd ever set eyes on (still is). On a no-script board, you KNOW everyone there is at keys, and when you set out to pvp someone, you're not hanging a script... if they hang, it's cause they're afraid of you ;)
Re: Script Killing
Yeah, if I had more than two or three hours a week to play the game, a no script board would be nice.
Which is why I don't play Everquest anymore, or any other mmorpg. I'm not paying $12-20 a month for a game that I play maybe six hours a month. They should offer it hourly, as well. Somethin like 50 cents an hour, for those of us who have other things to do, and just wanna play for a few hours on the weekends.

Re: Script Killing
nod.. I used to play Everquest as soon as I got home from work till I went to bed. Now I have a life, a wife, and can't do that anymore. Same with mud, I don't even log on when I get home anymore because I've got stuff to see, people to do.. But it's just irritating as hell to have people talk shit that they'll whoop yer ass, then when u go at keys to take em on they have a friend healing em and another sitting there to track you cuz they suck at pvp. Then, when you go away to script, they come outta the woodwork and then brag about it. LAME. That's not PvP, so stfu. I'm right with u dx, Legion is FULL of script killers, and that's what makes the game lame.

You can't take away from the 10-hours a week to post here! ;)

Re: Script Killing
Haha, old mud days. I can't say I ever waited around for more than 2 hours for someone to log on, but I do remember when I was a level 19 warrior and thought I was the shit. And when Marcus runs took over 3 hours or more because you had to use maps and the person reading it would lose their place and have to back track. Local bbses were much more fun, and you had more of a sense of accomplishment if you were a level 19 then instead of a level 50 now. PvP may be a lot of script killers, but you still get genuine pvpers who like nothing but live attacking and will allow you to get your equipment if stated before the match. But now those days are pretty much over and won't ever be back. Graphic games have taken over and those leave little to the imagination. Oh well.
