Will not work from the HUB to anything, which is confusing the hell outta me.



Probably a cross-over cable or just plain broke.

Ok as I have stated, the rj45 works just fine, going from the DSL modem, to the computer (so it isn't a crossover). The hub works just fine. This piece of RJ45 has worked with the Hub in the past. It is working just fine right now, from the modem, to the NIC.



But the moment I plug it into the hub, poof it stops working.

I get 0 lights on the hub.



Bah I'll just wipe and reinstall, and try a few things. Confusing as all hell, this problem. Oh well it's been 4 months time for a full reinstall anyway :) Maybe I'll go with xp this time around.

this could still be a cross over cable. maybe your modem requires a crossover cable. try using the cable to go straight from the laptop to the desktop. if you get a link light, it's a crossover cable.

first of all i dont think dsl will do dhcp.... so why are you goin thru a hub?



second, im sure syntax and invis are right, because i had one... so, get a regular cat 5 (not a crossover) and give it a try... i still doubt itll work tho, but who knows.. I had a arescom... what kind of dsl is it?

I had this issue with my cable modem and i bought a total of about 14 NIC's before i realized it took a crossover for my cable modem (back in the days of beta testing).

Why am I going to bother going completly going off topic?



Anything from Kazaa isn't worth the bullsh** problems that; that bullsh** programs causes, Why anyone installs a program that is borderline virus is beyond me.



Ok back on topic.



I pulled the cable out, and looked at bother end and found that it *WAS* cross-over. AAAARRRRRRRRGH.

So I replaced it with straight through.



When I bought the bloody cable a year ago, I thought I was buying straight through, as I had no need for cross-over.



So both the laptop and the desktop have access to the web. :)
