Fixed BTRIEVE UPDATE ERROR 4 wccuser2.dat

I used to get the wccuser2.dat BTRIEVE UPDATE ERROR 4 message probably at least once in a hour, but i finally figured out how to cure it.

On most other posts you will read that it is a corruption of wccuser2.dat. Most of them say that its usually caused by 1 char, but i could never pinpoint him/her. so what i did was rename wccuser2.dat to wccuser2.old, rename wccuser2.vir to wccuser2.dat, use nightmare redux, tools -> users -> merge users. Database to import FROM = wccuser2.old, Databse to import TO = wccuser2.dat, click start. bring your bbs back up, and you should be cool. at least this worked for me, not saying its a sure fire fix :P

another thing one could try is Start --> Programs --> Worlgroup Server --> Utilities --> Offline Utilities --> WGSRIDX - Restore File Integrity if Questionable. that has worked for a few people. on a side note, about the merge user tool; i wrote some code so that you can import a single user from one user DB to another. that would let you restore a single character from an old backup file.

OK, just a quick not to this. my bbs crashed... actually the whole computer. hard. blue screen memory dump. scared me. I got the bbs up. everyone logged in, everything was looking fine. BOOM! btrieve error 4 on wccuser2.dat. out of all the files I could lose, this was not one of them. I did what was described above, after trying to get the bbs up 2 more times including with reboots. it worked perfectly! :) :) I am so thankful for forumshq, Gothmael and syntax. Brilliant! I been using nmr (awesome program) for years, and I never saw the import user thingy under tools. guess I should keep my eyes open.
