Question to our canadian friends

I've been thinking a bit lately about making a move, and Canada is becoming quite a nice option. Is there anything you guys could tell me about the country, like laws I should know about. How are taxes and such done...Hows the free health care thing work?

Do you know anything about what a person would need in order to move to and live in Canada?

Any/all help and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Canada is 100x less dangerous to live in the the USA, you always get snow (and the people there know how to handle it so snow doesn't shut shit down) and, as stated, people there know how to handle weather. The cost of living is higher but I think wages are slightly higher since their money isn't worth as much..I think? Shrug..my sister and I are the only non-Canadians in my family. If you're going to move there though, do it big and go to BC..great weed.

I thought about moving up there a little over a year ago. I wonder if it would be a good idea to live close to the border, so you could work in the US, make the US money, convert it to Canadian, and go live in Canada. I was only there for 2 days when I went to check it out, but it was an amazing country from what I could see... I still wouldn't mind moving up there. A couple laws I learned while I was there are: You can't park in a school parking lot late at night, and you're allowed to do U-Turns. The OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) made sure to let me know that when they pulled me over.

You can't park in school parking lots pretty much anywhere late at night. Police see that as potential drug dealing..seen that plenty of times.

heh. I wasn't parking for drugs... i was with a girl. but anyway... I have $25 Canadian that I still have from my trip up there, I tried to convert it back to US but it would have cost me $10, and it would have only converted into $10... so I'd have nothing left, but I was just thinking... if $10 US converts to $25 Canadian... $40 would be $100... I think it would be a great idea to work in the states and live in Canada... of course I could be, and probably am wrong about all this. I know getting old up there isn't all that bad... I went to a nursing home and all the old folks were smoking and drinking, and I've never seen that in an american nursing home... so that would be something to look forward to when you're old. :)

heh..last time I was in canada it was basically 1 US dollar = $1.43 there..I think the US dollar is worth a lot less now, it's barely worth more than a canadian dollar. With a moron like Bush as president spending 80 some odd BILLION dollars on some POS country when the US could use tripple that to pick our own country up..that's what happens.

i think canada is wack. i hate taking trips up there. i think the only thing i like about it is the major snow they get

there was this big blizzard the first night i was there... and by the next morning the snow was almost all gone. that's a crazy country...

And Aragon, why NOT Canada? It's so much more peaceful, and you know I'm all about that. Plus, it's cheaper to move there than Europe.
