Precautions [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by Speed »

I'm gonna be setting up a board in a few weeks. I just wanted to know everyones opinion on what precautions should be taken to avoid being caught by your ISP (I'm on cable, and they are bitches about it). What kinds of software should I be running so they don't figure it out?

I would recommend the purchase of an affordable SOHO cable router. Thats what i use and my cable modem provider hasnt caused me any grief.

Also, run it on a non-standard port like port:1337 or something.

the best precautions are no precautions at all...

just run that board like you own the mother fucker...

but, its not your cable co, its not metro, the only thing you have to worry about are users. DO NOT PISS USERS OFF!!

I'm sure if he looks on the terms of service agreement, it states he's not allowed to run any kind of "BBS service" especially if the service is run using pirated products. So, yeah, he pays for the service, but he also agreed to some stipulations in order to gain that service.

I'm sure there are probably loopholes in the agreement which would make it perfectly OK to run a BBS... like say, if its actually your mother's cable access and you are running the board. YOU never signed anything. HEHEHEH. Man I'm slick, (probably not in the eyes of the law tho).
