Hi, can anyone help. my internal speaker keeps beeping one single beep every five ten seconds or so when I playing games or my monitor is switched off (downloading). normally when I move my mouse or do something the beep stops but lately playing the sims or such it does it after 15 mins of play. I will pull the plug on the beeping little monster but I would like to cure the fault first if possible. PLEASE help I'm going bleeping mad.....

can you explain all the times it does it and when it doesn't? like is it only when playing games? only after you've not used the mouse for so long? etc

yes its while using a game for about fifteen mins normal use of mouse etc. and after monitor is switched off and not off on normal powersave. the beep is about one second long and a continous tone. When the tone started it only happened with the monitor off, and only aftre a bout an hour or so the beep stoped when youdid something, move the mouse etc. now it happens when playing the sims and other games when you seem to be doing stuff with the mouse and gamepad etc. i was thinking on board grphics ot ide controller. hard drive seems to work fine and the graphics are still been displayed.. like I said bleepin mad.

i've got a whole list of POST beeps and what they mean, but that does not apply to this situation because it's when the computer is on.



the only time other than POST that i've heard a system beep is when there is something going on with the keyboard, and there is a button held down or i spilled something on it so it's shorting out...

i was thinking some sort of weird virus, but i cant find anything on the net about something like that.

It's probably your temperature monitor on your motherboard and/or CPU itself.



One of my computers (a POS Sony VAIO) had that issue.



Sent it back since it was under warranty and it took them two times to stop being cheap and change out the whole CPU & Motherboard.



mostly same symptoms you described. It's beeping because it senses that your motherboard or cpu is about to overheat and that's warning you to do something.



The flip side is maybe your components ARE about to overheat.. :-p check your fan and vents.

I have checked the temp of CPU etc and everything is running in the green. I am changing video card in next couple of days. If that doesn't work Ill unplug the speaker and use it for a good excuse for new toy and big upgrade... what do you think....

62 deg Fah for the CPU. the other stuff that shows in the bios about the same give or take 3/4 degrees. green as apposed in the hot red. I will give the fan a good vacuum clean though as that hasn't been done since I had it. Still looking at a new mother board/ big fat CPU and memory. any suggestions????

64 degrees fahrenheit??? you sure that isn't celcius or maybe you got a super cool going on or something? my p4 runs normally around 104F with the stock intel fan, 4 case fans, and the power supply fan.
