Help witha boot up problem [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Everytime my dad tries to boot up his pc. it freezes at Mup.sys. it gives the option for safe mode or normal boot and when he picks safe it freezes up when it gets to the Mup.sys driver. if he chooses normal boot it freezes immediately. we cannot figure out how to fix this. if anyone know please tell me. we have tried everything short of format c:\

try that to see if your ram is alright



i'm seeing that some people have hardware problems, and it causes the freeze right as you said



c:\windows\fixmbr

and c:\windows\ fixboot.



try those too



it may be a hardrive problem at worst..

i doubt a driver freeze has anything to do with your memory or hard drive boot record.



try searching for mup.sys on google. i wasn't gonna bother going through every one of these, but my guess is one of them has your answer

Google is always your best bet. If you ever have a problem, 99.9% of the time someone else already has. It will be documented somewhere on the internet. Just search for the exact error (punctuation, everything EXACT) and you shouldn't have a problem finding/fixing the problem.
