database corruption [Archive] - ForumsHQ
using redux 1.2, wg 3.3, mmud 1.11j, win 98se. Game runs fine untill I make changes. LIke tried to change race exp for all to 0, and change max stats to 250. make sure correct ver. of mud is selected in redux and compile. after compleation run offline util's and do recovery ect. start wg see in trail, corruption. it finally finishes and comes online. try to go into mud "there is a severe problem with the database that is not automatically recoverable ". 1st install of mud was over 1.11i to switch to 1.11j. figured this may be the problem so did new install of wg and mud 1.11j and still same problem with data base after making any changes.

well the 1st was to change all the max stats to 250 across the board for all races and all stats. the second was to change all races to 0 exp and take 30% exp off all classes

sounds like a problem with the dll...why are you using J when it was so flawed?

I was able to change max stats in J. Didnt try exp%'s -
What happends when u compile an update, then just sit in the realm for 20 minutes er so for the update to do itself? Or run an online update from the sysop menu?
But im with reckless, J sucks ass...

if u keep getting curruptions - just do one part at a time.
Max stats - try
race exp - try
class exp - try
maybe you can isolate the problem

hmm yea just starting to read about it being so buggy. Running J cause I can't find an ftp to "k" as of yet. I did notice they took the sys * commands out too :-( Just starting to get back into this again so am a little behind. Bad thing is spending all this time doing it and everyone I used to play with went to everquest . hehe o well will have to teach the wife to play it over the home network lol. is there a big change between ver i that i do have and k that i am looking for? if not i guess i may as well stick with 1.11i
Re: database corruption [Archive] - ForumsHQ
Had the same problem, finally gave up and deleted every file that had anything to do with MMud off my puter. I could change monster xp, edit items, change very few user settings, not including stats. Whenever I tried to edit shops, races, classes, or any user stats, db was corrupt, with no way to fix it but reinstall everything.
Re: database corruption [Archive] - ForumsHQ
the majormud dll checks a few aspects of a few records of the databases to see if they've been modified. if it sees something that is out of the norm it will say the databases are corrupt. your problem is most likely a un-cracked/mis-cracked/half-cracked/bad-cracked dll. but you shouldn't do that anyway, it's illegal!
