Connection Problems

woke up this morning and after my cleanup i mega couldnt log on. after double checking my DNS settings and rebooting it still wouldnt connect. i can connect to my BBS with telnet and mega can connect to other BBSs it just wont connect to mine any ideas???

you say you can connect to your local bbs via telnet ... are you using the same ip address/dns name that mega uses? try reinstalling megamud to a different directory, manually set it up and see if you can connect.

everything is the same, i've been connecting fine all week it was just this morning mega wouldn't log on. but the problem seemed to fix itself about an hour later and everything works again

if its on your machine, try connecting to 127.0.0.1

You can also try telnetting to your internal network IP.. ex. 192.168.x.x



I had this problem when I had my bbs up.. I couldn't connect to the ip or the domain name.. so i had to connect to 192.168.0.5 (the bbs machine in my network.)

that's only if its within a router man... you won't HAVE an ip like that if you're, say, on a switch or hub, or if you're connected right to the internet

not true ray, if he's running a proxy server he could telnet to the internal ip.
