How To Multi

Post by Panterra X »

How to multi

get a hex editor that will do find/replace

get a fresh install of majormud. you will need

ALL the files that came with the install...

you are going to have to edit these files

in each of them find:wcc replace:wdd(wee, etc..)

wccmmpls.mdf

wccmmud.mdf

wccmmud.dll

wccmmpls.dll

wccmmutl.exe

after doing that load up wccmmpls.mdf

on the second line of code youll see where it

says 'module name: MajorMUD Plus'

you have to change this because you cannot

run two modules with the same name in wg

so... change 'Module Name: Majormud Plus' to

something like 'Major2 Plus' and be careful not to

hex more chars in than are already there...

now, load up wccmmud.mdf and do the same thing for

the module name this time changing it to

the name you want people to see in your # list..

next, simply rename all of the wcc files to whatever

you changed it to in the code (wdd, etc) by going

to the dir in command prompt and typing

rename wcc*.* wdd*.*

after doing all of this copy the files to your server

and start up the menu tree editor... add a menu

option for the new mud, and make the module page..

you will see your new realm on the module list...

just a note here: i have never gotten 2 different versions

of majormud to work together. feel free to try heh...

or, you can just edit the two *.MDF files in a notepad or dos's EDIT and make the module name as long as you want...

Okay, i read this, and had to test doing this with 2 different versions, i used 1.11B and 1.11I installed 1.11b normally, then went in and edited 1.11I as the 'second' mud, and it worked,

when i get a little more time, i will try it the other way round, and see how it works.....
