Hercules 3d Prophet MXII 64MB Video Card [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by Speed »

I pulled my 3d Prophet MXII 64mb video card out of its box that it's been sitting in for three months. My dad said he fried it, but I'm sick of my voodoo so I plugged it in. My computer booted and viola, I'm getting video. I get to windows, install the drivers, works fine. There's just one small problem. It can not display blues. All it can display are red/green shades. It can get pretty close to blue, but all straight blue colors are just dark black, or a shade close to it. Has anyone experienced this before? Maybe he fried the blue part of the video card. I sent an email to tech support, but I'm not expecting them to get back to me til tuesday'ish. Just wonderin if anyone has seen a prob like this before.

You might check the board to see if any solder connections are loose or not connected, expecially from the VGA plug to the board. Ive had a bent pin on a monitor that disabled red. You might have a loose connection on the video board that is for blue.

If that doesnt work, go buy another one and return the bad one.

:D

I've had it for so long I don't have the receipt or any of the documentation, just the box, the bag, and the card. Thanks for the ideas though, I'm gonna check that right now, hopefully it works. I'm sick of seeing everything in a "certain shade of green." (..thats a good song, I love incubus)

-edit-

Nothing wrong with the video card, visibly. Looks brand new. There is a female connector on the card, so I couldn't check that. The male portion has one pin missing, but it works fine on my other video card so I'm assuming that is not the problem. Tech will probably tell me to send them the card back so that they can send me a replacement in twelve to four hundred weeks.

Well, i was actually suggesting you buy a new video card(same one), then put the bad one in there and return it for credit/cash(whichever). Hehe. Much easier.

buy like a geforce 4 mx 460, they are 64 megs and run like sweetness. they'll run about $80-$90, pretty decent for their price. or if you want top of the line go buy a radeon 9700, or maybe a geforce 4 ti 4600.... like brunt has.

i'd say right now the mx 460 is a damn good deal tho.

The problem with that is I won't have any spare cash for the next 6 months. Got a lot of things goin on, you know how it is. Gotta make do with what I have, or else I woulda had a new computer by now.
