Mbbs?

Anyone ever used MBBS? MajorBBS. I guess that's the only other bbs that majormud works for. Anyway, I justed wanted to test that out a little bit, so if ya used it, tell me about it, what it's like, etc.

It's basically a lower form of WG (duh). You load up the server in dos mode and it brings you to a screen with a bunch of F-options and your audit trail and shit. You can see statistics and users on, edit users, etc... in the main window. I think F8 lets you log in locally. MBBS is simply the dos version of WG, made by the same company, back when gcomm was cool. There are a lot more options available to you in the console window than there are in WG. You have to load all kinds of different programs in WG just to see things, MBBS has it all at your fingertips with one press of a button. It's not a bad program, except for that you can't multitask since it's dos based. You might be able to throw it up in a dos window and do it like that, but I think that will make it sit idle and not accept incoming connections. Plus, I'm not sure if it works for telnet. I personally like the MBBS teleconference mode much much better than WG, back when it had channels and shit. Back in those days playing mud and doomII and shit was so fun. Ahhh... the old days.... Now you got me reminiscing to myself.

Isnt majorBBS that bbs you can connect to when your on mudcentral and wanna play mud? If it is it blows. There is like noone on there and then ya gotta pay for mud (F dat) Lots of nice ansis though. I played on it for like 5 minutes one day to see what it was about. Kinda boring when your standing in a realm by yourself. They have like 7 differ muds. What else do ya wanna know?

I don' t know about you guys. But I ALWAYS run my bbs in the Console window..

console blows with hacked mud.. theres a glitch on it that slows

down your server considerably.. esp if you run multi muds...

One other thing that pisses me off about it is theres no 'lines in

use' stat showing.. I dont enjoy counting in hex...

Potsy - MBBS is WG's older counterpart. Major BBS. It's a type of BBS. I believe the last updated version is MBBS 6.25. You can pick it up relatively easy on the internet, along with Renegade and the like. Renegade had some fun games for it.



Ray - MBBS is basically a simplified version of WG, check it out, theres really no better way to explain it. The only prob is I don't think it accepts telnet connections, only dialup, but I could be wrong since when I played around with it not many people knew what telnet was.

yeah, just dbl click it, and make its value 1 - should switch at cleanup or next restart...
