Would you like a private wg system?
Would you like a private wg system?
For those who want a "private" bbs system, I can make you a special telnet server modual set for a telnet port of your choice. if you notice in Worldgroup config, the telnet port is hard coded and compiled in, so you can't set it to any other port without redirecting it on a network, and most of us don't have home networks setup. on request, I can also give you the code for the telnet modual so you can see that all I did to it was change the telnet port defined. email me if you are interested. err, also, this offer is only for Wg 3.2 for Nt, I never was able to compile any other version of Worldgroup.
Re: Would you like a private wg system?
That could be useful... a copy of it compile for 486 like you were discussing in another thread would be even better.

you mean you would want a copy of all the dlls and exes
that I recompiled for a 486+ cpu?
that shouldn't be too large a file, most of the files are a little smaller now. hmm, I will put them in a file and put them up on my ftp tonight. exes and dlls only.

Re: Would you like a private wg system?
So I would just need to replace the files you put together with my already existing files right? As far as running on a seperate port I don't so much need that unless I end up with port 23 blocked when I switch ISP's which is unlikely... they generally only have a block on ports like 25 and 80. For running a test BBS on another computer on LAN I just redirect 2323 to 23 on the appropriate IP address... anywho keep us updated on those files I'd imagine I'm not the only one interested in trying that out if if offers some performance increases.

yes, just copy over the new files over the old files,
only thing is changed is the compiled cpu model.
make sure your system is down thou.

Excellent... well I'll be taking it down and making a complete to switch MUD to mod 9 this weekend probably so that would seem like a good time to do it.

Re: Would you like a private wg system?
Worldgroup seems to no problem with outgoing rlogin. It sends the user info like it's supposed to. However if you set it up to accept incoming rlogin connections and you rlogin in from another system then you still get a login prompt. If it doesn't accept the user info for the incoming rlogin connection then there isn't any point to rlogin, it's just like telnet at that point. So basically I was wondering if you'd ever checked that out in the code or if there would be a way to have it accept the user info for incoming rlogin so it would bypass asking for the persons username and password.

I can look into that, I am trying to make a dma server for my wg but the going is slow, mainly because worldgroup looks like it was programmed by a bunch of teenagers, and I spend most of my time trying to track functions to see what they do, one person on here told me they had a wg programmers manual, I wish he would send it to me.
