THE MONITOR

See, this is how it is..when I moved into the apartment I live in now, I had 2 CPU's and 2 Monitors...well when hooked up, one monitor had a very very dark red/purple tint to it..couldnt make out what was wrong with it. So I was thinking I would have to wait til i could get like $50-$100 for a new monitor (something cheap that works) so I could have another working computer.

WELL..as you all know, I live in New Orleans..well this past week, my uncle was down from Virginia to visit..and, since he rarely comes, visiting the French Quarter while he's here is something we do every time. Well, after a shit load of alcohol and a lot of walking, it was time to leave..as my sisters boyfriend and I walked down the street (on the other side from everyone else cuz when we're drunk we make stupid jokes no one wants to hear and no one understands but us), and we come across a PC monitor, just sitting in the grass. Pitch black outside..I'm drunk, and I need a monitor..so of course, I grabbed the monitor, thinking worse that could happen would be it wouldn't work and I'd be right where I have been. Turns out, the monitor works like a charm..crystal clear..I'm happy:-p :D Now I got another pc to fuck with!!

THE HELP!

Ok, since this is a pc help forum, now I'll post what I need help with.. The computer that I just got working (got the monitor for) is weird..I turn it on, it wont load..so I turn it off..turn it on, doesn't load, turn it off...well I do this about...5 times or so, and it finally loads and works quick as hell no problems...any clue why or what I could do to fix it?

The description of your problem isn't very specific... when you turn it on and it doesn't work does the BIOS even post? Anything on the screen at all? Any beeps coming from the PC speaker?

Do you hear any strange sounds?

I might have to agree with rabid poop and say it's an overheating problem. If you hear some strange sounds, it might be the HD (but if it was, you should still see the pre-boot up part where it's initializing BIOS)

That's the post, it might just be a bad bios chip if the bios isn't posting. If he hasn't had the PC on for awhile and turns it on and gets nothing then it's probably not overheating, since it takes a bit for the chip to get that hot, it would at least have time to boot the bios and probably get into windows before it would hit the overheat temp. At any rate I had a PC with a screwy BIOS that had a similar problem, popped a new chip in and it was fine. If the BIOS isn't putting anything to screen when it's acting screwy might want to check into trying another bios chip, they aren't very expensive.

Check your power supply unit, especially the fan in it, if its clogged the PSU might be overheating or might need to be replaced.
