God & Heroes: Rome Rising

My next MMO. Been reading up on it all morning, and it looks like it could be really fun, and tries a few different things. Combat animations look awesome. In the video showing at the domain home, you can see a centaur kick the players shield, turning him around. Then it stabs him in the back with it's spear and chucks it, along with the player, across the field. They also have minions, and player camps, where you can level/outfit your npc combatants, or buy new ones, do quests to get others, etc. etc.

Just looks like fun.

I hate pay as you play games.

I prefer them 10X to games with micro-transactions. Possibly even 10X10X as much. Donation servers aside, what else is there? All free games nowadays are crippled unless you either pay a monthly fee or "buy" better eq/abilities using RL cash. There's no other way to make money to further the game. Some games are even adding advertising support to the free model, so not only do you get more of the game if you pay the monthly, but they also remove the ads. WTF.

I donno.. after watching it most of the battles appear to be insta-kills.. but then the target gets right back up like nothing happened... WTF?

I have mixed feelings about this one... I'd rather wait for http://spore.com

Hell yes, Spore looks fuggin awesome.

I'm mixed on this Gods and Heroes as well. Looks alot like Guild Wars, except group-based. I didn't read all there was about the game, but it looked turn-based too - maybe it was just the way they showcased the skills.

If by group based you mean you and up to 8 of your closest npc minions, which level up with you and can wear gear. MMmmm, solo group play, what 3rd shifter wouldn't want that option?

To sum up: closed beta keys, today(wednesday), at aprox noon PST, or 3pm for those of you in EST like me. I'll actually be setting my alarm clock just so I can wake up, get one, and go back to bed.

I've been hella excited about this game, would love to get some others trying it with me, though you guys all work when I play, so it's more like just another perspective that I'm hoping for.
