Today, I had a small job of rear plugs on a mis-firing 95 cirrus, 2.5l.

Doing the rear plugs involve removing the intake manifold and air housing.

When removing the throttle body from the intake, I failed to pay attention to the one time use gasket mating the 2 pieces. Put the new plugs in, bolted everything back on, fired it up and said goodbye. An hour later, i'm getting a call from the guys work and he's saying he had to drive 30mph the whole way to work, and the motor was reving higher and not letting off making it hard to stop. "oh shit", i figured that maybe the throttle cable slipped or something.

I drive out to his work and take a look. Cables all look fine. Start it up and it's reving really high(around 4000rpm). I listen for vacuum leaks, find a huge suction around the throttle body where it meets the intake manifold. I paid no attention to the one time use gasket. The gasket costs around 2 bucks.

Having no money on hand and it being around 10 degrees outside, I went to the trunk of my car and grabbed for the emergency tool box. I come out with a stick of jb waterweld. I know the life saving qualities of this stuff, It's gotten me out of some serious jams in the past. Kneeded the half frozen waterweld for a couple minutes then applied a generous layer all around the throttle body. Waited 5 minutes and started the car. The idle was wayy lower (still maybe around 2000rpm). I tell him to drive it home tonight and he'll have to get the gasket tomorrow. 2 lessons here. 1)always double check your gaskets when servicing.
