Worldgroup hexing question...

Post by LordSoth »

Would it be possible to make it so that instead of Worldgroup sending somebody to the top menu after sign on it would send them right into ohh say MajorMUD. Basically the end result being that users would signs in and then get dumped right into MajorMUD instead of the top menu.

Ok nevermind that last post I've figured that part out. Now what I need to know is if there is a way to have a menu item on my BBS log into another BBS... and I mean log in, not drop them at a sign in prompt but actually log them on with the info from the original bbs.

why would you want to just log in to majormud. that seems like it'd be annoying

shrug about the actual login... but there is an option to get them to telnet to another location...

trust me, used that many a time when i could only connect to one bbs

You are both missing the whole point I think....What I want to do is add a menu item on my BBS that signs into a second bbs on another machine on my LAN so I can run a second mud on a seperate machine. I'm a bit iffy about running a second mud on the same machine considering I'm not sure it can handle the strain. So basically the user on my bbs would enter a menu item and still just get dumped into a mud game, only it would be running on a seperate machine.

you can either A: Use the DMA client deally or B: setup the bbs, and use RLOGIN (quiet easy to setup) or C: just install a 2nd mud on that pc.

Already tried the rlogin route... it doesn't sign into the bbs, you still get a login prompt. Which makes no sense to me since without the username/password passing functions rlogin might as well just be telnet. Maybe I'm just overlooking something. At any rate the BBS is running on a PII-450 with 256 RAM not to mention it's also running a web server, mail server and ftp server. I really don't want to end up with a laggy pile of shit bbs.
