You're all too artsy and subjective [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by erek[NOT BANNED] »

i hate all this bullshit. utter garbage is spewed here with absolutely no backing of what you're saying. total conjecture and subjective content. i'm so sick of how things are and how artsy our society has become. i will never allow myself to pardon activities in *ANY* subculture that goes against common sense. cannabolism is just wrong and even in context CANNOT be justified. fuck all this artsy subjective bullshit. if you're going to post, at least attempt to provide some valid arguments backed with some textbook research instead of this continuous unreliable stream of electronic media. any seriously academic (in it's true meaning) application of your arguments should be backed up. ESPECIALLY since everyone seems to be so passionate about what they're saying. otherwise, most of this unadultered bullshit is taken with a grain of salt.

if you can't open your eyes to see how it's constructive, then i don't feel sorry for you. it's a strong criticism, of course. i'm basically stating that views should be more objective and place beliefs into CONTEXT. also there should be more backing to the argument than a single elctronic link to some source that may or may not be reliable and is open to further conjecture. all this weakens the argument. i'd rather see more intellectual approaches to building an argument on here for discussion than the usual. pardon me, if you don't see my reasoning.

Yes, and you give a clear example of this when you say...

"cannabolism is just wrong and even in context CANNOT be justified.".

i actually did that on purpose, forgot to throw in "for example," personally i'm kind of worried about some things... like when i see someone has edited their post i have in the back of my mind that their argument must be weakened already even though it's just clarified... so i always hesitate to edit to avoid my own created stigma.

']i hate all this bullshit. utter garbage is spewed here [...] i'm so sick of how things are and how artsy our society has become. [...] fuck all this artsy subjective bullshit.

And these statements, again, are constructive how? It sounds more like your complaining about nothing, to no one, and without provacation.

']

if you're going to post, at least attempt to provide some valid arguments backed with some textbook research [...]. [...] any seriously academic [...] application of your arguments should be backed up.

Why should anyone have to back up everything they say, think, believe, or feel with "textbook research" ???? This is not an acedemic board, no one is making any arguments, and no one is trying to apply anything. It seems you are stuck in a college mindset where everything is academic, and everything is an argument. You just don't like "artsy" thought so, you are in turn poo poo'ing this thread and subforum. YOU don't get to tell people that they have to back things up according to YOUR standards.

How about a little more respect for fellow members here who are trying to have interesting and constructive discussions, without having to "prove" themselves or defend their beliefs. How about a little tolerence.

'][...] most of this unadultered bullshit is taken with a grain of salt.

As should anything you read, and that applies to discussions on a forum. That is just common sense.

isla, all of what you said is your own subjective interpretation. i mean, did you really just stoop that low as to contradict everything i've said as if you were a juvenile? i'm not attacking your self-concept or anything, but you come across as if i have insulted you. is it your given right to defend the entire board? who appointed you?

i feel that if the same people who can make the arguments against someone who makes a spelling mistake or a grammatical mistake in spite of the meaning should re-evaluate the forum. your point solely disproves moving towards a more intelligent discussion. why is it that people are allowed to troll on about grammar and spelling, but i'm not allowed to criticize the academic approach here?

Calling me juvenile, is an insult. Never said you insulted anyone or anything before, but I guess the attitude was justified, since now it has become a personal attack?

I care about this board, and try to help in any way that I can. I don't like people who poo poo on everything on FHQ. You aren't encouraging academic discussion using words like 'fuck', 'bullshit', and 'garbage'. You are breeding negativity, by putting people, their beliefs, and ideals down.

why is it that people are allowed to troll on about grammar and spelling, but i'm not allowed to criticize the academic approach here?

I have no idea what you are talking about, I haven't seen anyone criticize grammar and spelling, unless it is pertinent to the subject (and noticed no one corrected your spelling of unadulterated.)

Lets just end this with... not everyone wants to continually argue and defend themselves or their beliefs. Your post was obviously to elicit something, using the words you did and your abrupt negativity. Your post was only to complain and was in no way constructive. It makes people want to a) ignore you b) defend. In no way would it elicit academic discussion, maybe you need to reevaluate how you come across and what you are trying to convey.

listen to yourself, you're either angry and therefor missing how i did not call you a juvenile. or you're purposefully grasping at straws to form an argument that is similar to trolling to say i called you a juvenile. if you would take the time to objectively read what i'm saying instead of starring angrily at the screen, perhaps you'd see what i said was "as if you were a juvenile." NOT "you are a juvenile."

if i was breeding negativity like you proclaim, then i would have personally insulted you. which i have not.

many times people have corrected other's (not nessecarily mine) grammar or spelling even though the meaning of what they said was not lost. nowhere did i specify that actively this is happening (such as in this thread.) this is in line with what i'm doing here. yes, i'll challenge the academic approach here. if this place is serious enough to challenge grammar and spelling even in such an informal environment. conjecture is all that exists here. you yourself refuse to even attempt to place my ideas into context.

I am done trying to get past your stubborness and your unrelenting negativity in this thread.
