i must say, the ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB video card is one of the best purchases i've made. Overall Image Quality is far superior to NVIDIA's right off the bat, that's why i switched to ATI again. IQ alone is not what makes this card great. it's cooling solution is in perfect alignment with my 80mm 4800rpm 75.7cfm ThermalTake SmartFan 2. the design of ATI's cooler has it blowing the warm air OUT of the case unlike many other solutions around. with this cooling setup i was able to run my XT @ 1.4 (stock XTX 3D voltage) 675mhz core/1600mhz effective ram from 625/1450 using ATITools@startup. it idles at 43C and max load 67C.

the performance of this card is beyond awesome. FEAR a game declared by most game enthusiasts as having the best display of graphics of this year is like a stick of butter to the R580. many people complain of hitching or stuttering while playing this game with NVIDIA based graphics. i'm here to tell you that on my X1900 there isn't a bit of hitching in my entire game experience except when hitting save checkpoints. this is an engine related pause. i ran the game at maximum graphics detail disabling soft shadows (they're a not much different as one would normally except and not worth it) 0xAA and 16xAF (High Quality set by ATI Tray Tools.) the results were an average of 83FPS @ 1280x1024. insane.

i'd like to mention that i didn't use ATI Control Panel or Catalyst Control Center and i disabled the two ati* services from startup. i used ATITools@startup to adjust the clocks/fanspeed to full/voltages and do not load ATI Tray Tools unless i want to monitor FPS.
