WG Access Violation Error

Post by Meop79 »

C:\\WGSERV\wgserver.exe - Access Violation. Attempt to read from: 0

This is the Error I've been getting any ideas why?

Edit: it seems to be hapening when I try to enter one specific room. But I've looked at the room in NMR and it seems normal... any ideas?

Ok with your server shutdown.

1. In your WG directory or where wcc*.dat are, copy WCCMP002.vir WCCMP002.dat

Optionally: Run WGSRIDX from offline utilities or just find the exe in your worldgroup directory before running a mud recovery. (Restore file intergrity if questionable)

2. Run a mud recovery: WCCMMUTL in offline utilities or just find the exe in your worldgroup directory.

3. Find DATABASE RECOVERY and run it.

Restart your server and come back if your are still having a problem.

That is weird. So it happens in Lucky Strike Casino?

This is a last resort suggestion and maybe someone like syntax53 can help you better. If you want to try it, backup wcc*.* and lets do this.

So just make a directory and copy out wcc*.dat \backdat.

Now copy wcc*.vir wcc*.dat

Now copy these files from backdat back into wgserv directory (These are the user files..)

WCCUSER2.DAT, WCCITOW2.DAT, WCCGANG2.DAT, WCCBANK2.DAT

Ok if you have edits with NMR copy in WCCUPDA2.DAT

Offline Utilities, WCCMMUTL: Database recovery.

If that fails and you are still getting that error it's either user related dat file or if you have nmr edits, unfortunately it may also be WCCUPDA2.DAT.

I'll try that... one thing that has me confused... I re-installed MM and it didn't fix the problem... in fact it aperantly didn't change the dats at all.... any idea why? I thought that would get me a clean coppy.

Yeah it won't do a new install. Here's what you can do.

If you don't have your codes written down go to Security and Accounting and write them down. Both for mud and for entertainment package. (copy paste is the safest way to retain your info)

With your server running go into SYSOP menu before mud, hit a and write down those codes as well.

Take the server down and back it up if necessary. In dos go into your worldgroup directory and do this with the server down.

del wcc*.*

cd wgsdfcvt

del wcc*.*

Now reinstall. You will need to enter all your activation stuff again. But you won't need to go into wgsdmod or anything. It will fire right back up.

Well I think I've figured out what the problem is and it's not just happening with that one room. Unfortunately while I know there's a fix for this I can't find it....
