QuoteI, for one, respect his decision to freeware/abandonware the project after it was abandoned, rather than what some *cough majormud cough* developers did with their abandonware.

Re: Doormud discussion
bah is right, but EvanElias has been good to this community and as such, we will not pirate his software (publicly).
Re: Doormud discussion
I've given this a lot of thought, and reconsidered my earlier post. This summer marks 10 years since the first release of DoorMUD, and 13 years since I first started the project as the single-user bbs game "Land of the Forgotten"... it's about time to make an announcement like this I guess.
I still maintain the copyright to the game and its content, and probably won't ever release the source (it's way too ugly to see the light of day and have my name attached), but consider DoorMUD Pro to officially be freeware as of today.
Save the attachment to your DoorMUD directory, and select (c) for current dir. Note that the "Area Expansion Code" doesn't do anything, since all areas of the game are included in a standard registration.
This is the only place I'm posting this officially. Not really worth the trouble to set doormud.com back up And anyway, I figure MMB/ForumsHQ has always been the most supportive place for the door. You guys once hosted the historically most active DoorMUD game on the planet... I remember logging in one night at random and seeing like ten simultaneous players. And unlike mmud, those were all live players since dmud intentionally didn't lend itself to scripting. Not bad for a little hobby doorgame, I'd say. Thanks for all the memories, guys!
I set out to prove that you didn't need to waste a thousand bucks to host a good BBS MUD, nor did you need bulky software like mbbs/worldgroup, and I think I mostly succeeded there. Too bad the pirates and the nutjobs ruined it for me, but it makes me smile to think people are still playing and posting questions on here.

Re: Doormud discussion
Wow - thanks Evan! I (and I'm sure others) really appreciate this.
I'd like to officially add that I'm running DMUD on Renegade BBS right now .

Re: Doormud discussion
0.97 found here: http://dmud.thebbs.org/sysop.htm
Seems like you were on 0.99 though, no?

Re: Doormud discussion
Yeah, 0.99 was the last release. There's still a few sites who keep archives of many BBS door zips; easiest bet is just googling the file name you want. (I don't want to link to a particular site and jack up their bandwidth.) Here's the file names you want to google:
DOS version: DMUD099.zip
Windows version for Synchronet boards: DMUD099S.zip (also used to ship pre-installed with Synchronet, hopefully it still does)
Windows version for door32.sys boards: DMUD099D.zip
World Editor (includes DOS and Door32 versions): WORLD099.ZIP
DOS version: DMUD099.zip
Windows version for Synchronet boards: DMUD099S.zip (also used to ship pre-installed with Synchronet, hopefully it still does)
Windows version for door32.sys boards: DMUD099D.zip

Re: Doormud discussion
as you can see i edited your post. I did the google searching like you said and uploaded the first files that I saw. I have not confirmed what they are...
I've always enjoyed doorMUD and glad we've been able to host a server off and on. I find it to be a great at-keys time break from watching my chia pet (majormud character).
Thanks for releasing the registration. If there is anything we can do for you, ask, we'll do...

Re: Doormud discussion
Is there any way to destroy a limited item to cycle it back into the game?
