my uploads on my DSL kicks ass, Cable in Canada is slow, unreliable, and down 60% of the time.

We had this prick installing some new shit on the pole outside my Apt. for Cable, he told my neighbour that his speed would increase. I laughed my self silly, and this dipshit says "whats so funny" Cable will never be faster than DSL. And I proved it to the dumb SOB. I took my PII 233 with 128 mb of ram, and a 2.1gb hd over to my neighbours (strung out 60' of rj45) and I was still 70% faster than the Cable with the new hardware installed running.

this is everything that I get with my DSL connection:

My provider is telus.net

Downstream speed up to 1.5 Mbps

Upstream speed up to 512 Kbps

3 Web-based e-mail boxes

10 MB Personal Webspace

2 dynamic IP addresses

6 GB/month Internet connection traffic

(5 GB/month down, 1 GB/month up)

I had a call from the securtiy department attime warner not log ago, telling me that the mail server I was being used as a hub for spammers.....I told them that I knew this, and that would be why the mail server was not longer running.

He also told me that he knew that I was running various other servers from my home and he had no problems with it, and from there we bs'd for prolly 30 min about it and that was that!

Time Warner rocks....the service has been great, very little down time, the tv cable rocks....I have to admit since I moved and got in there area I have had no issues with my service!

Time Warner/AOL sucks balls 'tox. I've used them for 6+ years for broadband and the first 2 years were awesome. Now it's awful with downtime, outages, and their lack of tech support. They sell extra ip's, but they don't offer tech support/troubleshooting for problems when connecting them. It's the biggest joke of a company I've seen in quite some time. The bandwidth has also shrivelled up since I'm in one of the original test markets and everyone is on it in this area. I would switch away from them in a heartbeat and do backflips because of it!

All areas are very different for cable connections. Some people love it, some people hate it. I went from paying 65 bucks a month for shitty 384/128 DSL... because that was all that was offered. to 3000/1200 Cable at peak times for 50/month. The only thing slowing me down is my horrible cable modem... but it was free, and I don't have 100 bucks to buy a good toshiba modem. Let me tell you.... I am VERY happy!! My whole nieghborhood has cable and not a single one slows me down at all! Only if I had a static IP, I'd be set... but that is 90/month.. which is nuts.

Like I said, all areas are different

I run cable presently, if you insist on knowing, with no monthly bandwidth limits. As a matter of fact, I have only seen limits like that on DSL and business accounts.
