I was gonna say something but didn't really feel like I knew for sure. Also, it looks like OFF is the default setting for that.
Terminal Server for MegaMuds
Re: Terminal Server for MegaMuds
just out of past history... how many times have i offered a bullshit fix to a problem? i've tried and tested this issue hundreds of times and i've came to the conclussion that it is infact a coding error in the "drop smaller currency to pick up larger currency" option..
if you dont believe me heres a good way to test it.
most of the times that i noticed the computer locking up was after hang on pvp or from becoming dangerously low and bailing.
so what i did was set up 2 accounts, 1 attacker and one bailer. (pretty obvious what happens here)
after the pvp hang/reconnect attempt 18 times outa 50 (roughly) the computer would lock up..
went in switched the currency option and tested it again
nothing out of well over 50 attempts
turned that option back on and got roughly the same results as before
so for about 5 years now i've always turned off the drop smaller/larger currency option and haven't had a problem since.. now i have a hard time believing that this is just some superluck..
i did this along time ago and since lost the spreadsheet for this, if i get some spare time this week i'll try and rerun the tests..

Re: Terminal Server for MegaMuds
I use MegaMUD with Windows 7 and had been experiencing a lot of lockups which often required me to restart my computer and sought a solution on this forum.
Had some limited success with the technique of quickly pressing escape after reconnect and/or clicking the disconnect button straight away, after I came across the post recommending disabling that particular drop currency setting and followed that suggestion I have experienced a remarkably lower incidence of lock ups, in fact I don't think I have encountered any lockups at all since.
Thought I'd put my hand up with a bit of anecdotal evidence supporting the idea that disabling the drop smaller currency option may improve MegaMUD performance w.r.t. the lock up issue on some systems. Seems incredulous but it's worth a try in any case.

Re: Terminal Server for MegaMuds
A few years back on an edited bbs, my Megamud suddenly froze, and would freeze upon entry of the realm every single time I tried.
I logged in with the XP telnet client with no problems, and ultimately realized that there was silver and copper in the room. I stashed the copper, relogged on Megamud and it was fine. I suspected this setting was the problem, so I turned it off and the crashing never came back.
If there is an issue involving that setting in some certain circumstance, I wouldn't be surprised, and I'm quite inclined to agree with Silicon on this one.

Re: Terminal Server for MegaMuds
I don't see why everyone is so shocked that this is the solution. How many other strange things are there in Megamud as far as settings? You have to give people access to query your version (if you are a mudop) for @home to work.... how much more strange is this?
Re: Terminal Server for MegaMuds
Anyone ever hear from Merlin lately about Gigamud? Or is that finally by the wayside?

Re: Terminal Server for MegaMuds
The terminal server seems to be a hit so far. I have about 10 people running MegaMuds under separate profiles and there have been no complaints yet. Even Ray is testing it, though I haven't heard any feedback from him. I haven't seen the lag-out issue when you connect using Windows Server 2003. If it has happened, it hasn't affected other's connections.
I ordered 4GB more ram for the VM host (for the BBSs and terminal server) so I can buff up everything.
Hoping to open Heaven's Portal with terminal server desktop options at the same time in the very near future.
Thanks!

Feedback:
Please install MME and make sure it works in the multi-user env.
Tried to install it myself to no avail.
I'll test it further within a week.
