GreaterMUD, GardnerMUD

Post by Louis CW »

I really don't understand your argument.

Granted that it is a test board. Granted that some stuffs like dwarven guards killing evils in Khazard requires you to gen. hardened practice dummies so that no guards will gen. Granted that treasure hunts for nonlims like golden chalice and tattered white bible are generated, so that people remain interested in the beta test board. All these I can understand, and even think its good.

But, specifically that instance, your agenda is not to allow Loki to have the item. That's the agenda. You can deny it all you want. Denying it does not mean that wasn't the truth.

Moreover, you are using the reason that it is a beta test board, therefore denying some user the item necessitates you to interfere to ensure that he does not have it is A VALID argument.

I don't see the link between a beta test board and denying some user the item for the boss he has been camping for. Pretty sure, MANY users camp bosses or even kill bosses many times just to get some item drops (like nexus hunter), or even LOTH (if a nexus spear is flushed).

Beta test board != your negative interference to deny user an item. Of course, you have the 100% trust and support of Vitoc. For that reason, whatever you do in the realm is always deem to be correct. Nobody can fight against that.

Perhaps a more fitting term is "I am the Op on greatermud.com. If you don't like me being the Op, then don't play", rather than using the Beta Board argument.

Then we'll agree to disagree on why it is done the way it is done. You say agenda, I say no. I have no proof other than my word, and you have no proof either. Your whole beef with this is because Loki did not get the tunic. You don't care about or even mention the other instances of this being done, nor do you mention the cases of items be genned and handed directly to a user. Those were all outcomes that you must agree with. You pick this one because this one didn't turn out as you wanted.

Neither does saying it all you want

The only instances I know that you genned items and handing to users were nonlims, like DEBs. The other instance I know that you genned items and handed it to users were the case of someone flushing Russell's BST and you giving it back to him. No other instances that I know of. Since you're the one doing it, you should be more informed.

Must not be a very active player then and just going off of something someone told you rather than anything you "witnessed" first hand.

Quote from: iNViSiGOD on November 29, 2009, 02:09:45 PMOk, I'm a bit behind the times and this is OT, but what is GreaterMUD coded in? C? C#? C++? And what do they use as a repository? Subversion? Mercurial? GIT HUB?

BTW: Your Drama Llama is almost as bad as our WOW communities. :/
It's coded in C#, uses SQL or SQLCE for the db store, and we use CVS for our code respository.
