Creating Mod10

Post by ari »

Let's open-source mod 10. What would it take?

Outline of story: Either continued from mod 9, or maybe another previous mod?
Decision on target level ranges. All level 70 content, or fill in any blank spots.
New items / Spells
Development of quests based on location, level range, story.
Development of areas based on location, level range, story.
Textblocks

Hmm, anyone want to start a wiki?, and a new post?

Oh, and to stay on topic, umm, bitchrantmoanbringmorbidupsoicanquitplayingalreadyktnxbye.

That was kinda my plan content wise, but the 8-9 people that were helping me only one of them ever sent me anything, and he killed himself before he finished it(not a joke).

The first step to finishing mod 10 would be to create the NPC's and place them in the realm along with their speech. (Most of which is in the database).

From there you'll have to actually do something with the town. Its just to damn big a devoid of alot of stuff.

There is a theives guild that is suppose to have a level 50 quest for theives. And some kinda the mayor keeps whores in a torture chamber quest.

And it might be good to decide where you'd like to connect mod-10 with the realm. I think it would be best if you made a cave area, then connected mod-10 through there. (clarfication, there is a cave on the north end of mod-9 that Appears to be where something should be)

Mod-9 will need to be fixed, its a mess. I'd suggest just throwing out the old textblocks and making new ones. Also if you're still planning to allow the lich at the end of that quest I'd suggest changing how you get to him, plus maybe making the island the 5 room cross and letting him roam rather than summon as part of the textblock.

The story obviously has to continue where Zanthus completes his spell. and then the quest leaders will need to advise you of what his plans are and what you need to do. I'd suggest making this a more indepth quest with neat ways to finish it. But who cares :p.

I think it would be best if The final battle with zanthus actually occured inside silvermere after completing the first part of the quest, it could be kinda neat to have him raise an army of undead inside silvermere or around it.

Mods, feel free to move these last few comments to a new post. I didn't create a new one, because I've never even opened nightmare so didn't want to take the lead on something like this. Truly didn't mean to crap up the morbid thread, was just one of those random things.

QuoteShe looks you over with a questioning eye. "I do not believe we have met, pray tell, how did you come to our establishment?"

establishment:4837
Quote"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Columna, wife to Lord Aderem - no doubt you've heard of him. I started this House, oh," she looks up with thought, "many years ago." She winks, obviously wishing to hide any hint of her true age. "Not just anyone can be a courtesan, it takes inner beauty, grace, and selflessness. You have to take their joys and make them your own. It also depends on what the patrons are seeking. Please, you could not have come here to speak with an old woman. Take your pick of the ladies here, they all are fit for delightful company." She bows her head to you with a smile, and turns around to greet a patron.

melna:4838
QuoteColumna's brow furrows at the name, betraying her age in the process. "Wretched little gossip, I warned her to leave before she got herself caught with her own tongue. She had even taken to turning down the patrons' affections, preferring instead the attentions of an ogre. Little ninny. Now she runs a hatshop. I'd run her out of town if she didn't share a room with my niece." Quickly her face subsides into a carefree smile, as though her previous anger never took place.

niece:4839
nomini:4839
Quote"My sister's daughter," she stops and looks you over, "older sister, that is. I provide for her when I can. She is good with crystals... and kind-hearted. My sister died when she was young and I took her in. Kept her out of sight until she was old enough to survive on her own. I have often pleaded with her to get out of town, 'tis not the place for such as her." With a quick curtsy she takes leave of you.

QuoteShe takes a closer look at you, "Ahh, and a burglar no less. Too bad, for I have need of one in your field, though I fear the skills required are beyond your own."

Text 4843
QuoteShe takes a closer look at you and suddenly a wicked smile crosses her face. "How fortunate that you have come at this hour, for I have only so recently begun to have urgent need of one with your skills. Would you be interested in performing a task for me, thief, or would you rather I fed you to the guards?"

task:4844
Quote"Aye, I suspected you would choose so wisely. Well then, allow me to, however briefly, inform you of your mission. As all well know, I am Madam Columna, wife to Lord Aderem, the very man that keeps this fine town stable and prosperous. Our marriage has been one of, shall we say, mutual benefit of power, if nought else. Unfortunately the respected Master of the Den has a habit I cannot stand for, and though I have sent word to all corners of the city, pleading for aid, I have been denied by all in view of his standing. One such as yourself however, having no great ties to this place, should have no qualms in carrying out my favor."

habit:4845
Quote"For some time now, a few courtesans, all of a certain specific appeal, have been vanishing without return to whereabouts unknown. I have noticed a pattern of Aderem flirting with these women just before they disappear, and have most recently followed one to his home. He is taking them to a locked chamber, hidden behind a grand tapestry, and performing actions of which I can only begin to know the nature of, and dare not utter aloud." She breaks her speech and suddenly looks down and away, conquering a near display of discomposure. "I think he is slow with his tortures, and this girl may still be alive and well, though I cannot set her free from her pending fate. The door is well built, and my skill for locks cannot defeat it. Should you use your mastered artifice and save this girl, I shall be indebted to you, though I entirely doubt the door can be opened by anything other than its key, found always upon the body of Lord Aderem." Her face somber without expression, she stares at you awaiting reply.

QuoteThe chef glares at you from under his brow, heavy with sweat from the hot kitchen. "Unless you are my servant I suggest you leave!" Without looking at you he hollars "Guards!" but due to the extreme noise of the room, none hear to come to his aid.

servant:4832
Quote"Yes, servant! I sent him over an hour ago to fetch a dozen apples from Gruphor! Most likely he's stopped off to flirt with some wretched street busker. As if I had the time! All these people do is eat! You would think that in coming to an establishment such as this there would be more to do than eat, but no!" He shakes his head, furiously chopping a vegetable into tiny bits and pieces. Frustrated at the result he tosses them away and begins on another.

gruphor:4833
Quote"Oaf of a man. Gigantic, blubbering idiot! Just the other day he sent my servant back with a sackful of poisoned potatoes. Poisoned! Can you imagine, sending poisoned potatoes to the Midnight Ruse, establishment of the wife to Aderem himself? Well I of course did not know they were poisoned before I served them, after all they looked fine. Columna was furious! People were spewing everywhere, luckily none died or then we really would have had a problem. I marched over there myself and let Gruphor know just who he was dealing with. Blamed an urchin right away, claimed he knew not about it. I'd be buying my needs elsewhere if there were another grocer in town. Why I'd downright slit his neck if I could fit my hands around it." Suddenly he cuts his finger, and with a loud yelp rushes to the basin to tend the wound.

Aderem:4834
Quote"Oh no, I don't go into that no sir." He whistles, looking around to see who might be listening. Deciding it is too noisy for anyone to hear, he leans close to you and lowers his voice. "They say young Juk'tror, Amar's little brother, got caught sneaking food from the Den's kitchen straight to his family. Hasn't been seen since, dissappeared right out of sight without a trace! I'll tell you though," he leans in closer, "I'm betting Aderem had old Galambor out there turn 'im into a pair of boots." He nods his head. Suddenly conscious of time he snaps into reality, shrugging you off.

Cyril's skin seems to crack as he makes a flat expression. He hisses, "Welcome to this grand store. Our steelware is the only of its kind in all of Shadowmere, and you will find no steeper price!" His eyes widen and a sinister smile creeps across his face, "Naturally we've ensured that no others sell their wares within our city, if you catch my meaning. Unfortunately, one of those stench-ridden half-ogres has taken up shop in the marketplace south. No matter, he will be dealt with." He cackles with a low, gutteral bellow. "My time isn't free, so if you've no intention of purchasing anything, feel free to leave out the door you came through." He makes a sweeping bow to you, and glides across the floor to tend an incoming customer.

NPC: Rayan

QuoteRayan looks at you with a fanatical wildness in his eyes. He loudly exclaims, "What can I help ye find? Take thy time, for I have all there is in the world." He cackles loudly. "This armour is forged by the labors of those waifs ye see running around town screaming their heads off. Oh, they're my own designs alright, I just hire the local children to work them... Helps their families pay their taxes! Unfortunately they sometimes lose a finger or two in the process. No matter, makes the steel stronger!" The man seems as if he could go on forever if encouraged to do so. Despite his enthusiasm, the armour looks questionable.

Eh, this is taking to long, But this is some of the stuff in the database already.
