Quote from: syntax53;81272erek, it was decided that nothing good can come of posting bugs like this. we do not have the luxury of the company putting out a fixes for bugs. so all it would do is sprout more assholes and cause headaches for sysops. i sent basically exactly what you did to sharron over a year ago and nothing came of it.
I just have a question... Is there a way to combat whatever bug this is? If so shouldnt you post the bug and the fix. This would give the players a way to defend it and give the coders a chance to maybe fix it.

Wait wait wait, let me compute this again... Ok, ready.
You actually think that Metro is going to work on something? One of the only people from here Sharron would listen to is Syntax, and even then that doesn't mean she will do anything about it. Reading the prior posts, Syn gave this information to her quite some time ago, and that's as fas as it got.
So until MMUD becomes open source, there's not terribly much that can be done.
And as for bugs in Megamud... Right. The company that originally coded and sold the software is now defunct, meaning you can hack the damn thing as much as you want without any repercussions. The last update they publicize as having released was in 2001. Read up on federal laws about companys still having to be in production of their product in order to receive money for it.
Not to mention the fact that this thread is basically defunct except for users seeking information on putting in a few of the choice messages the coders missed when developing Mega.

The last time I talked to Lance (the original creator) and told him about the following that MMUD still has, he laughed. I told him about FHQ, and gave him the web addy. To quote him "majormud is archaic format, I dont understand why anyone still bothers"... However, if anyone wants to ask him, you can try searching Telus.net Phone book for Lance's phone number. However if you dont know his last name (and I wont supply it). You could try asking him directly.

No absolutly not. Im not saying put it out there so metro can fix it Im saying put it out there so one of us can. Now if it is something it would be impossible for one of us to fix (I dont know) that obviously makes my point moot but if its something that perhaps one of us can come up with a solution to maybe we should let it be known.

One of the main issues is that MMUD is closed source. Meaning you wouldn't be able to effectively do very much without the proper codes. If mud was ever made open source, there is an unlimited amount of fixes and even editing that could be applied to it.
So no, not technically very possible. As well though, no one wants to put time into a defunct game.

Re: Official MegaMUD Missing Message List
I too talked to lance a while back and he told me about the same thing. He is surprised that people still play this game and that it still has the following.
My prediction...
Nothing will be done with majormud. Metro will never sell (give away) the source code. Shannon will forever remain a joke in the majormud community along with their shitty ass coders.

Re: Official MegaMUD Missing Message List
Locke posted in sysop forum the otherday. The first time in ages. All he said was "Majormud should be open sourced."
