Running WG and managing bandwith

Is there a special software or router config that can be used to section off part of your bandwith to keep your board running smoothly while other computers access the net? Or should I use linux to hack a neighbors wireless password and use a hacked linksys router and setup a repeater bridge on their mainly unused internet? Just wondering.

You're talking QoS. It's not a standard feature, and it's actually pretty hard to come by on a <$100 router.

Traffic shaping is the term cisco routers use. And yes, it's generally something you'll only find on high end routers. I'm sure you could configure a linux box with two NICs to do it though.

If you have a spare PC or spare processing power, just download IPCop and install it on either the spare or a VM. It has Traffic Shaping and its the best linux firewall distros I have used. The install is pretty straight forward and it can run on some of the most shittiest of PCs.

What I have currently running is 2 linksys routers both with the DD-WRT firmware which is very cool if anyone wants more preformance from an existing router. Thank you for the ideas I will check them all out
