In reply to Moonriver BBS being simular to my BBS it is in NO way close to being like White Dragon... I have exp at x3 x5 boss's.. it now takes peeps long to lvl.. none of my areas are on Moonriver. Minx has done a very good job with her bbs. and as stated many many times, she is a newbie editor, so.. cut her some leanthy slack..

So...if you've ever played dd's bbs, this has some strange similarities.(posted by Ari)

the only simularitys are in your mind Ari!!

altho myself and dania have had our diferances.. i fully support her and would tell anyone that moonriver bbs is a good growing bbs and that ithas growing pains as any bbs out there had!

i can see Moonriver becomming a long lasting member of the BBS community good going Minx and merry X-mas!!

To all of you postiong polite critcism, biased opinions, interjections, or just plain trash talking about Moonriver, I got a phrase for you: You don't like the bar? Get the hell up out of your seat and get out! If you would actually pay attention to what the sysop said and show some intellegence to what you're reading, process the information and understand the post, maybe some clarity would come into your heads.

She said she was new to running a bbs, give her a friggin break.

She said it was an edited board, don't expect a traditional mud! You want traditional, serious mud? Go cough up 5 bucks a month and play on an un-edited one.

She's providing a free BBS that you don't have to pay a friggin penny for. Shut your mouth and appreciate what is free. You want things your own way, go start your own board!

She admited she didn't know that much about editing and is activley pursuing further education in it by any means necessary. Give her some time! God knows you nerds out there didn't learn HTML and how to create a virus in an hour.

She is the sysop. That means, it is HER BOARD. She does what she wants with it. She bought the software, she bought the server, she's paying/has paid for everything and doesn't expect a penny from us. But, you know what, she is an awesome sysop and does everything for her players. She asks for nothing in return. How many of you can say you've actually found a sysop like that? I've played on many boards and paid my hard earned cash and haven't even come close to finding a bbs or a sysop like this.

So, if you think by giving sarcasm or insults against this bbs will sway people from playing on this board, why don't you mosey you're butt over to Moonriver and see how many people are on there. As of right now, there are 27 online.

In closing, I revert back to my saying earlier. You don't like the bar? Get the hell up out of your seat and get out! Or, for those of you that don't understand analogies: You don't like Moonriver, hang up and play on another bbs.

Oh, one more thing. As people always do, you're going to make a comment on my post. It's unavoidable. I don't care if you slam me, or call me an idiot. I have no patience for you nor care to listen to you. So, just go play in traffic to pass your time away. I'll make sure the little yellow bus swings by your house to pick you up for school.

I'm not sure if you are positive or negative back up yet seeing as how very few editted boards have paid for world group or mud,if she has awesome then you are positive if she hasnt then you are negative. As for her being new to editting and trying to learn thats great for her,I personally hope her board goes well when she gets it where she wants it.

A whole bunch of well thought out points that were completely unnecessary.

My posts were not meant to inflame, agitate, or in anyway provoke a heated response. Granted, other people posted some negative feedback, but as that in itself is standard for any board being posted.

I said it had some similarities to DD's board, at least that was the only board I could compare it to. I didn't say it was a shitty board, or make any personal attacks towards the sysop/users/mudops/pets/mothers/etc., nor did I stay on the board to play/rant/complain/etc. I had two sessions, the first using windows telnet and the second after I switched to megamud.

I still don't believe this post has gone south at all. People made comments. They can be used or not. Besides, since the board is now private, I don't see why this post isn't locked and/or deleted.

A few comments for Socrates:

1. If you are going to post about "intellegence", at least spell somewhat correctly. I know spelling isn't everything, but don't comment on competentcy if you haven't quite met the quota on it either, bud.

2. Last time I checked, polite criticism is constructive, and therefore helps the BBS. You, on the other hand, gave no facts to disprove any criticism, considering the only thing you stated was that she was a nice person as well as new to editting, which hasn't been argued yet.

3. If you owned a bar, and had that approach, you wouldn't get dick for business or money. I also doubt anyone wouldn't get your analogy, so don't use this to act more superior to others, only I can do that.

4. There are plenty of free unedited bbses out there, Sherlock. Plus, just because someone doesn't like her edits doesn't mean that they don't enjoy edited realms, but possibly because they don't like her own version..

5. Pursuing an education on nightmare? I'm wondering if Syntax is offering this class, and if he is, would it transfer from wherever he teaches? If so, sign me up. Plus, infering that anyone who knows HTML or viruses is a dork is like calling the kettle black. You are playing an HTML coded game, and even taking the time to go on some blaring rant on it. Who's the dork now?

6. I would comment on her paying for the bbs, but I'm sure everyone would feel better if I am as oblivious as you.

7. Just because a bbs has users doesn't mean it's good. DragonDawn's bbs has a pretty big user base, for example.

8. Creative slam on everyone who has posted criticism on the bbs by telling them to play in traffic. And to think, if there was a handjob instead of intercourse when your parents met, we wouldn't have a sexually frustrated idiot who feels that it is necessary to defend a female sysop in hopes of possibly meeting her and "charming" your way into her pants. Good job, Romeo.

All I can say is lol. Some of you people are taking this stuff too far, mainly Backer.

Minx, your board was posted here, so you are gonna get feedback. Just take it as it comes. No one is personally attacking you or your efforts, your board is just unbalanced and has very noobish looking edits. This is to be expected, and hopefully as you learn more about mud and how it works you can work towards a more balanced realm. Perhaps not. Some people dont like balance, ex: DD's board. It still has users, and they still have fun. Most people on here take a new board as a powerleveling challenge, and its kinda a race to be top dog, so balance is important to those types.

So... chill out. I don't know why you decided to close off your board to people, sounds kinda lame, but its your choice.

As a side note: Backer, telling people to 'fuck off' if they don't like something is all fine, but you arnt the owner of the board, and you are killing people's desire to actually help the sysop achieve her goals with the board. Might want to think about that. Not to mention its childish and narrow-minded.

I take offence at you saying my BBS is not good just because is has a big user base.. if it was not good.. why does it have the big user base you say it has( actualy as on this date it's use base has gone down some.. as ALL BBS'S do player get tired.. move, or for other reasons of thier choice decide to move on))

so.. before you go and mouth off some more, Likiy.. check out White Dragon.. it is better than it has ever been.. x3 normal x5 boss's.. lots of new cool edits/area.. no more lvl 100 in a day.. takes a long time to lvl now!!

Strange, I am a well known mudder and a mudop. I tried to make an account on this board and it said my application needs to be reviewed. This is an idea I agree with to a certain extent on Majormud. However, there is no way that this board can get back in touch with a possible player. It does not allow for a player to put in an email address so that the sysop of this board can get back in touch with anyone.

I have been following this post since the start of it, but barely post on any boards I am a member of. I figure boards are good for information resource, but if you don't have any problems, there is no need for posting. Anyways, I became interested in possibly playing on this board as it grew.

Just wanted to point that the email validation problem out.

If you've followed the thread as you've stated, you'd see that the board is now private and not accepting new members.
