Aardwolf is the BOMB yo. Played there for a few years, though it was more casual than powerleveling for me, think I was only on remort 6, 0 tier.

Anyways, Majormud is a bit different. It's a mud code that's proprietary to Worldgroup BBS' (Formorley Major BBS, hence the name). It used to be an awesome game to handplay on local BBS', but for years people have been scripting it. A program came out after years of scripting in telemate, telix, and other terminal programs in the day called MegaMud, which is a client specifically designed to play the game for you. It will buff, combat, heal, run you places, everything really. Now, the game is something that people are connected to nigh 24/7, but only atk's for X minutes/hours a day. I've gone on vacation and come back and had characters still looping areas.

Now that you have a basic understanding of that, let me tell you the brief history of bbs' listed here. Mostly you're going to find edited muds. MMud was a game designed for one board, which then became a product sold to anyone, and as such the content was controlled by the original creators. They sold the property to Metro, which has since run it into the ground. No updates, barely any fixes, etc. etc. So people took it upon themselves to hex edit their own boards, which lead to a couple editors being made, finally culminating in what everyone uses today, Nightmare.

In conclusion, you need a copy of megamud, find a bbs you want to play on (legit ones can be found on TurboSentry's top player list, or the official mud forums; edited ones here), and then just start playing. Also, you should grab a copy of Mmud Explorer, which will look at the dat files and tell you any stats/info you need. It really is a necessary crutch these days, for stock or edited muds, but especially edited muds.

To lazy for links, sorry. Google will find you everything quite easily. Holla back if you need anything else, people here are...well, I can't really say friendly, but 9 times out of 10 you'll at least get a response.

there's a free demo, download it (and other good mud tools) on http://www.mudinfo.net/. send me a PM and i can hook you up with a keygen.

quickest way to connect, is create a new character, go to settings => comms and set the mode to telnet, then create a new bbs with the address you see.
