Unusual error - please re-upgrade to latest version

Post by GoodIntensions »

Ok I setup a multi mud. I followed the directions and made it wbb*.*

It seems to run fine but when I run a database recovery I get:

Unusual error - please re-upgrade to latest version

Deleting Active (It cycles through a bunch of monsters)

I have tried applying an update file. I have tried following the multimud step by step. I tried replacing every file except wbbuser2.dat, wccitow2.dat, wccbank2.dat and wccgang2.dat and I keep getting this problem. What's more is every now and then it will crash on an access violation error and I am convinced it is related. I know it's not the bard questor problem.

Also I changed wbb back to wcc following the steps and the problems goes away. I edited it all back and I am having the error again.

Any ideas anyone?

Only thing I can think of is maybe you missed one of the wcc files? It sounds like it's trying to access a file that is already being accessed.

Any chance you would email the edits for just the files required to run a multi-mud in version 1.11p? I have the dats and NR does all the work with changing the call letters so all I need is the altered files. the .mcv file holds your reg keys so edit them to 00000000 or something.

I am running

WG 3.3NT

MM 1.11P WGNT

I did a fresh install. I added one user and let the update give me the initialized. I shut the server down and followed it step by step verbatum using hex workshop. Updated call letters ran a recovery. Brought it back up waited for initialized and when I took it back down and tried recovery again unusual error - please re-upgrade crap.

I don't think it works with 1.11p for WGNT. Something is whacked with the active monsters database for one thing. That's the unusual error crap. It is related to my crashes too. I am almost convinced they f*d up the database and NR isn't changing something.

Anyone using this with 1.11p WGNT I would love to hear. Not beta 13. The full 1/9/06 release.

Thanks for any help

P.S. One other weird thing is when a user creates a gang and invites members it takes a day or so to show they are in that gang on the top list. Even the gang leader doesn't show up as in their own gang. I am not sure if this is normal. I just don't remember having this problem in a straight up realm.

has anyone ever ran a multi-mud on a non-cracked dll? maybe it doesn't work if the dll isn't patched.

I thought I did with v1.11o wgnt but I can't say for sure. I only ran it a couple days while the other computer was being fixed on it's warranty. I don't remember it crashing or not displaying gang names in the top.

I have v1.11o, v1.11p beta 13 and v1.11p actual releases. I killed the multi-mud though. Would still love to hear if anyone gets it to work on a straight up legit v1.11p wgnt.

Thanks for answering Syntax, Speed!
