anyone else have major troubles with this spell? i just added the new 1.1n/o spells to mudrev the other day, and this doesn't seem to work. after some testing, it seems having the DispelMagic flag on an area spell won't function, keeps telling me it's a silly spell and to report it. i found this rather intriguing, since i exactly copied the spell, so i tried it again with fresh 1.1o dats and it still gives that same message. what's even weirder is that when i remove the dispel flag, it doesn't even echo the specified startmsg, just casts the spell with no message whatsoever. is metro just too retarded to test their own spells and make sure they work, or is something buggy over here?

appears to be a bug in mud: http://www.metrobbs.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=111k;action=display;num=1078716205;start=0#0. i did a filter in mmud explorer, and that is the only area spell with the dispell ability so it prolly is something related to that.

i am SO fucking impressed with metro's ability to still market this game for hundreds of dollars. how lame... after a few months of editing, i already know to test everything i make before putting it into the game, it's not fucking rocket science. in the same vein, in case anyone was curious, the game also thinks it's silly to put a DispelMagic flag on a duration spell. :p anyone want to take bets on metro being too lazy to actually fix the code so that the spell works, and instead just removing it? not that we'd know for the next year, most likely...

Hurm...maybe this is completely wrong, but could you fix it by having the spell be an area off effect full party that calls a textblock and the textblock casts a self targeting spell that does the disspell blind, or would that just dispell the caster...hurm

nope, doesn't work unfortunately. i've been playing around with endcasts to see if i can get it actually doing something. it's kinda tricky, but i'm thinking if i simply change the spell to a 1 round dur spell and tie it to self-cast it might work, albeit that would be fairly annoying to cast and have to wait a spell round to do anything. probably not really feasible gamewise, but now i'm curious. :p

You could make it a bless spell and use negate ability, it would be functional then at least.

ended up making it a cure darkness/blind spell, since one of those is sorely needed for priests. i was actually playing around with the endcasts for curing wind, since it's somewhat the same situation - maybe it'd be worth changing that to a party effect poison immunity spell, good call.

seriously, if ROM, Diku, circle, or any of the free mud codes charged for their shit, they would prolly do better than metro. Metro sucks, plain and simple. Monkeys could prolly code better shit. They make money off people who been playing this game for so many years, they wouldn't know what to do without it.

i'd love to, but i get the strange feeling an army of lawyers would quickly descend if anyone went so far as to do that, unless you were so thorough as to make it unrecognizable. :p i imagine someone at metro is getting a nice chuckle out of this thread right now actually, as they use my testing to fix their fucked up spells.
