Ok, I would not ask this except for the fact that i have "NO" idea how to look up any previous threads of this.
I have an issue when someone, who is married, can not connect with multiple accounts to my bbs. They are off of a router on cox cable, so it treats the accounts as having the sme IP address.
I just recently had this problem again. I used to have this problem before, when I wa on DSL. It seems when I switched to COX CABLE it recognized the two accounts as being seperate. I guess Cox Cable knows its own. However I recently switched the bbs back to DSL. Caus ewell frankly Cox Cable suxs bawls.
Is there any options in WG to allow multiple connections from the same IP address.
Would be helpfull to know.
Thanks,
Thumper

I am assuming you are talking about logging on to someones bbs as a player. The problem isn't from WG, its a module called Control, with it you can limit the number of connects from an ip, I don't believe WG has any such settings. I could however be wrong, I know its hard to believe but I was wrong ONCE before.

Re: Multiple connections from one computer
what PeterParker said would seem logical, what error do the clients get when trying to connect?

Re: Multiple connections from one computer
Actually, it is MY bbs.
I do not know of any errors. It logs one of the machines out after a few seconds of the other machine being on. both of which are on the same out connections.

Re: Multiple connections from one computer
Ok here is something wierd. WG does not hang you when logging on with multiple IP addresses. I tried it on my bbs. However as soon as you log both acounts into MajorMud, one will hang after about 20 seconds.
andy ideas?

Re: Multiple connections from one computer
CONTROL doesnt limit connections per IP that i've ever seen unless hes running a newer version then what i used to use. If it does i'd be interested to know where i can get a demo copy of this version of CONTROL.

just incase you didnt read the above comments...
It is MY server. there is no CONTROL. it is a STANDARD install.
3.2 WG 1.1m MUD

Re: Multiple connections from one computer
invis was just saying that he didn't think control had the function that PeterParker is refering to. he didn't say anything about it being someone else's bbs or yours, or whether it was installed or not.
anyway, since you're saying both users can log in and even get to mud, i don't think it's a WG issue. if you have the hardware, try a different router or network card. could also try hooking the bbs box directly to the dsl modem and eliminate the router all together.

Re: Multiple connections from one computer
Oh. sorry. I was not yelling or arguing, just restating incase they missed the above info. It was a clarification. :)
ok well.
1. It is not on a router. It is hooked up directly to the DSL.
2. Can support the same 2 IP addresses on the WG bbs for a tested amount of time, I.E. 20 min or so of testing.
3. It does not hang the second user off untill they both log in to MajorMud.
4. this was not a problem when I was on the Cox Cable modem. It allowed both users.
conclusion: I agree that it is not a WG issue. Otherwise the two users would of been logged off at the WG screen, not the Major Mud screen.
It seemed not to happen while it was hooked up to the COX CABLE. That is a little peculuar.
Could it be the telnet protocol that is not allowing the same ip address on mud due to problems with communication? I would think not. Because telnet, through MUD or WG should yeild the same protocol use.
I take it no one else has this problem?
Well thanks for the listening I will try to fix it, if I can.

p.s. - from recent testing it seems it only lag out the user when you enter the Game menu. meaning it starts to give at the menu system into games. FYI

Nope, definitely not telnet-related, the connections will have different port #'s on the source
I can't really see any obvious reason why it would be DSL-related either, althogh it sounds like its consistently happening only with your DSL...
How is your DSL modem connected to your computer?
- If via USB (slow anyway!), try Ethernet + PPPoE software
- If already via Ethernet, try different PPPoE software
How was your cable modem connected to your computer before when it worked?
Do other WorldGroup *modules* work? (Is MajorMud the only module you have installed??) It would be weird if only MajorMud isn't working and other WG mods work fine...
If no WG mods work, could be some very strange system/network/internet problem, ie, something stopping WorldGroup from passing socket connections to its modules properly
