im working on a new mud client with a buddy of mine, itll be givin megamud the boot.



its an open source (like, you dont pay for it, and you dont have to look at stupid ads either) project and will run on any linux/unix with ncurses



i know some of you are interested in scripting on linux =p

what's with the linux ports??? Not many people use linux...make it portable!!!

well im always accepting suggestions, at least we're a development team that's accesible (as compared to megamuds)



and our code is available aby CVS, you get the most current version (current as in hourly current)



we intend to put in web based script checking and SMS messaging



of course thatll be months in the future

Yeah, no shit.. Nobody uses linux nowadays. Espesially for playing major mud.

the point is to be able to put the client on a remote server, or run a server with the program as a daemon so you dont have to have your computer on all night to script. the program is run in text (ncurses) so you can telnet into the server from a mac or windows if you wanted. making another client for windows is kind of overdone...



can somebody post the url to this other fellows linux efforts?

I am the author of the Linux terminal that was mentioned. It is very similar in look and feel to megamud, but with a number of improvements. The combat, spellcasting, and message/response systems are much more sophisticated. It is in the 'beta' stages, check out the these threads:

i think it's a good idea to put it in linux



that way not your average joe could use it, only the tr00 ub3r 1337 mudders could hehe
