You might, and i mean might wanna check the bulbs. Older S-10's and some other chevy modles DO have dual element lights in the back. I know my friends 98 S10 has dual elements in the rear.



Also do as everyone else tells ya, get a Haynes or a Chiltons.

its not in the manual, and its not near the other fuses, and i've looked under the dash, but not extensively cuz i was kinda high and didn't know what i could take off and what i couldn't, cuz i don't know anything about cars. i should just call the dealership and ask em... i'd rather fix it myself than pay someone 100 bucks an hour to fix a 2 dollar part



I think on your truck it will be behind a panel underneath / under and to the left of the steering column - you'll have to pull the panel off though (should be a couple screws or tabs).

Before you go screwing around with the flasher tho, make sure, as mentioned above, that you change out all the bulbs - front AND back - as that's the #1 cause of blinkers malfunctioning, an incomplete circuit. When you hit the switch for the blinkers, can you hear the normal "tick-tick-tick..."? If so, and it's regular, then the flasher's most likely fine, but you can follow that noise to the part - most likely above the brake pedal underneath the dash area / steering column. If it's irregular, or you can't hear it at all, then the flasher is definitely bad, and needs replacement. This is my experience with light to mid duty trucks anyhow..

Now that I read the whole thread - a bulb (or bulbs) probably IS the cause.



You said one of the brake lights goes out when you hit the lever with the brakes on. What happens in dual-filament bulbs is that when one of the filaments breaks (burns out), it then falls down onto the other filament, causing a short.

spit stupid busy message.. Yeah, I like that this area of the forums might be getting busier though, I NEED something to take my mind off things at work once in awhile, and MMB's been far too quiet as of late (safe for the pr0n forum). Plus, free car advice is always good.

Hahahaha I posted this question on November 5th... the problem was fixed a LONG time ago, and the truck was even totalled when I ran it into a couple trees 3 months ago, but thanks for the help anyway. :)
