i kno song of knowledge is supposed to remove song of brilliance.. but can it be that both are actually still intact?

No, unless you altered them. Both spells have the RemoveSpell ability so if you or others cast it, it should remove the others automatically.

My bard can keep both spells on as well, but you have to cast knowledge first, and then cast brilliance over the top of it. Know will cancel bril, but bril won't cancel know.
