Catastrphic failure. Please help.

Ok, i havent performed any changes to my bbs recently, the only thing ive done in wg is to do searches in my active wg directory for items on the ground and look at rooms. i havent made ANY changes though. Recently however, my bbs has been crashing after a few minutes of uptime. The error is ...rldgroup Server\wgserver.exe - BTRIEVE UPDATE ERROR 4 ON FILE ".\wccuser2.dat". So i figure, no big, ill just restore from one of my backups. Idiot that I am, I hadnt checked to see that my backup isnt working completely. Apparently about 15 of my files were not backing up, among them was wccuser2.dat. Adding to the strangness, there are suddenly giants in the guarded hut in the lost city, the first time that i walked into the jewelry shop after the bbs came back up it gave me a mud internal error the first time i went in, but not subsequent times. Any help on how to recover from this most painful failure would be helpful. I REALLY dont wanna do a scorched earth.

i think..dont quote me, im not certain..but by the looks of it 1 of yer players is causing the crash

The players are all me, its a test bbs that im messing with. Incidentally i found why my backup wasnt always working. i have to go 4 days back to find a complete backup tho.

does it crash after all chars are in the realm, or as some are entering, or ? like are you doing anything at the time it crashes? Does anyone, like a friend know yer bbs addy and maybe try to get on?

you prolly had a crash in the middle of a user update. sucks, but there isn't much you can do. lucky for you you're only testing, so just copy in a fresh wccuser2.dat. when that file gets corrupt (and it's usually one user that causes it) there isn't much you can do except track down which user and delete them, and restore a backup.
