Don't forget some of the really stupid things mega does. ie. going to a place that requires a key...if no key exists, it'll walk right by an open door (which requires the key you are looking for) and won't go through....

yes, this is true and it does suck. BUT, the program provides many ways in which the user to can do things themselves to work around the problems.

MegaMUD's not buggy? I was by the night hag one day. Legit board. I tell it to go to silvermere... I guess I didn't have a skiff or something, so it went into the vortex, then STOPPED, RESTED, AND WAITED UNTIL THE LOTH CAME IN. Now, going via the vortex I might be able to understand due to the skiff and all... but the stopping and waiting? No. MegaMUD is retarded. It's proven it on thousands of occasions. You know why the option is in MegaMUD to not look at people? Because I harassed Merlin's lackies daily for about 2 months solid. They refused to believe this was their, or Merlin's problem because there was an option for the sysop to approve descriptions. Nevermind that most sysops don't know about the bug. The reason being Merlin had no fucking idea how to stop the bug. Merlin is a medicore programmer at best, and he charges premium rates for what is nothing more than a buggy telnet bot. The ONLY reason anyone uses it is because there is no reasonable alternative. Learning to program and then spending weeks or months perfecting a bot is an asinine suggest at best. I knew a guy who had Mega reroll him. It just died and kept going back til it was rerolled. He swore up and down that hangups were enabled and all that jaz, and he wasn't the type stupid enough to have done it.



Hell, you can't even run half-way decent when using MegaDUD because the God damn thing sends a return everytime something walks into the room, thus slowing you down like hell. Share damage doesn't work, it heals someone at 92% before someone at 5%, it doesn't listen to the set heal period... There are just so many bugs that should be fixed, and are probably easy fixes. MegaMUD is an EXTREMELY valid option, and it's an awful program that rules via a monopoly, much the same way as Windows.

The word I meant was bad, not buggy. Way to split hairs. Try going on 4 hours sleep and working all day (a concept totally alien to Speed I'm sure), then getting every word right.

I vote Worldgroup and Majormud. THey wonder why there are pirates out there.... charge 700 bucks for just a BBS setup when BBS's are antiquated and see how many people pay you. Then charge upwards of 100 - 500 bucks just for a text based game and see who pays you then. True there are legit bbs's but they pass their cost on to you. Its not buggy but its sire a hell of a lot more over priced than ME. and Mega Mud needs a wash.

I voted MegaMUD..I ran ME, I had no problems with it other than your basic Microshit stuff that you get on any Microsoft OS...



WG is overpriced, yes. Does it fuckup often? Eh..not as often as people think, it's usually MajorMUD that fucks up..



And MajorMUD well...think about it this way. Have you ever noticed that Legit BBS's don't have half the problems with MajorMUD that you or I have? Do you realize that by so much as making 1 change, we could be fucking something up that causes these things?



The only bugs with WG and MajorMUD that we see, aside from the normal small bugs that aren't really anything important, I honestly think we bring them on..



I've seen legit BBS's (of course, only counting veteran ones, not the ones you see 20 different addy's from the same sysop within 6 months on Mudcentral) last just fine, without a problem, for years+...



I don't know though, this will probably spark a Novel from Atma and rantings from a few other people..
