So.... [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by Hobo_Bill »

Is this ever coming back up? Was mention of swapping parts and it would "be up tomorrow", but it's been awhile. Just curious - so I have something to pass some time at work.

AA,

If you want people to telnet from WG to Syncronet you need to have a second computer. If you put WG, Syncronet, and TWGS on diffrent ports you can run them on the same computer....

You can advertise the diffrent Systems on your splash screens. For example;

bbs.forumshq.com:23 <-Default Running WG

bbs.forumshq.com:666<-Syncronet (Pretty Simple to remember)

bbs.forumshq.com:2002<-TWGS Server (No Brainer)

/bump

Bored at work - and unless I can swindle my IT guy into allowing outgoing telnet connections, this is the only entertainment I have available.

Is there anything anyone could help with to get this up and running again? Do you need a host, or parts for the machine?

I need a hard drive and a legit, hard copy of windows XP home that I can use my currently uninstalled serial number on.

This, of course, won't help in getting the board back up at all. I just wanted to make my needs known. ;)

I've no hard drives that are any good. Only legit hard copy of Windows I have is XP Professional SP1.

Why do you need a legit hard copy? Can you not download a copy and use the serial?

I've had no problems downloading a copy of Windows and using a legit serial number. The source CD doesn't matter - only the key and subsequent validation online with Microsoft after installation.

If you've purchased a Corporate key, the online validation is not required. I believe the same is true for an Enterprise or Student key. However if the key is not valid, I don't believe you'll be able to update any Windows components.
