Yeah, i've had a few people refer me to Clarks for parts. They're probably the group i'll go through for the carb rebuild kits. Some of the parts are available through local parts stores (ball joints,shocks). That will save me alot of time for things of that sort. I've been considering replacing the stock carbs with the Holley carbs. It seems to be alot easier to get replacement parts through Holley than to track down whatever manufacturer made the ones on the car now. Who knows, I might get the carbs off and find they just need a good cleaning. The guy did say he never really had time for the car. I have all the time in the world for this thing. I've already got a dozen or so car shows planned out for the car.

Flat head anything is a great motor.
I had a 1958 28' Monk classic power boat with a 1951 Atomic 4 flathead 4cyl gas engine. I traded it to a guy who was making a hotrod and wanted a cast iron 4cyl engine. He had a 1955 Atomic 4 diesel which he installed into the boat, and plumbed all new diesel lines and put in an aluminum tank for me.
I paid $500 for the boat in 1998 and sold it in 2000 for $34,550.

I got carb kits though nappa locally. I thought they were holley carbs.

I'm not sure what the stock carb brand was, but i know that Holley carb was an aftermarket thing. Alot of people replaced the stock with Holley for obvious reasons. I'm betting a good percentage of corvairs out there are running Holley carbs. I'm actually quite surprised that the one i'm getting has the stock carbs still on em. The accelerator pumps on em are claimed to not work. I still think a good cleaning will take care of the troubles.
On another note.....The neon that needed the cam seal, didn't need a cam seal. We spent a couple hours tearing down to find that the crank seal was all jacked up and the oil pump is about shot. Since the car was given to him for free, it's no loss. He doesn't know the car is junk yet(he's been gone all day). I imagine he's gonna flip out cuz his current ride is a shit box. He's either gonna have to sell it for 100 bucks to someone who wants to fix it, or he's gonna have to call the junkyard and have them pick it up. Either way, it sucks. I'm not about to pull a motor and start tearing down again.

HA! It ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuns! Can't feel my toes it snowed like 6 inches here but we got it to start and monkeyboy is out there working on the carb already.

Screenshots of it finally moving. After adding fresh fuel to the tank and cranking it for awhile got it to start turning over on its own with half a key turn. It's in nicer shape than what the actual pictures displayed.

easy peasy lemon squeezy. 30 minutes of actual work on the carbs and she starts and runs like a champ. the dude was trying to start it by spraying brake kleen into the carbs. duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. the gas was frozen and probably not premium. i dumped 2 gallons of shell premium, propped the carbs propperly and boom, she runs and drives. fukin a man. i don't wanna call the guy an idiot, but he wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. his loss is now my gain. The neighbor lady has already said that she wants to buy it when it's "fixed up". I wouldn't let that bitch have it if my life depended on it. Maybe for 10grand. lol. This thing is gonna turn some heads.
