Our Tool photo journal [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by toomanyshoes »

We arose around 7 am Friday morning. AA is not a morning person.

No, i'm not a people person when i wake up. Could be morning, noon, or night. I've been known to kick small children for waking me up. BLEH - I leave for work.

AA forgot his lunch.

toomanyshoes packed me a lunch!

I got ready for work.

Work day is over! Let's go...

See, I get in this "rock stance" everyday after work. It's me who rocks. We're in a rush, we gotta go...

to our favorite liquor store!

Xetox knows this little shop off of Hub Drive.

Before I started drinking.

Before I start drinking.

After a few beers.

After a few beers.

We arrive at our hotel, Hotel Phillips. It is one of the oldest in KC.

It was a very nice hotel, and the service was top notch. Here's a quick shot of the lobby while I'm having them fetch the tickets from my car.

We take the old, creeky, small elevator to our room. On the 13th floor

Whats this? Most people say the skip that number. It's like w/e.

Nice bed!

We take a picture in the bathroom

We hang out the window to take pictures of the view. I can't believe the windows opened!

I can't believe it was a mostly quiet block of down town. I didnt hear any crazy mother fuckers walking the streets.

A little drunk and a lot hungry, I call around the Hotel, trying to find a place to eat late at night. AA cheers me up and makes me spit beer by fisting the Georgia

O' Keefe print. Bravo!

The hotel has a restaurant open till one am, so we venture down to what ended up being a charming old-fashion jazz bar, with quartet and swing dancers. We have no pics because we were pretty drunk and forgot our phones.

The place was not only a great place to people watch, but the food and lemon drop martinis were wonderful. After we watched the dancing for awhile, (neither of us dance. I zero rhythm and coordination, but AA is smooth, a wonder with beats, and just needs some lessons)

anyway, we decided to go back to our room and order dessert a little later from room service. And thus begins the story of the $43 dessert.

Hot carmel apple pie, ala mode. It would have only cost $23 with tax, if AA hadn't drunkly handed the waiter a $20 tip! We had a good laugh about that!

Morning! I am up way before AA.

He sleeps so soundly and peacefully

We wake up and go home. A great time was had. Tool sounded great, Not too sure about Isis.

Sweet, look like you both had a blast. And I still say he looks like Quentin Tarantino.

Well, our ears rang for the rest of the night. The way we were sitting, stage side, second level, we could look directly down on the moshers and crowd surfers. That was one of the best parts. We saw a little girl, probably no more than 100 lbs get pulled out by security, she looked like she was bleeding. NO WAY would I be down there. She was brave and/or stupid.

We had a blast. Spent our entire year's entertainment fund in one night, but it was worth it. Much better than the NiN concert we went to last year. Trent is not into it anymore. The whole NiN show seemed so rote.

Next concert: ZAPPA

Dweezil, doing Frank's material. He is traveling around with Steve Vai. I have got to get AA tickets to that. He loves Zappa.
