Dual WoW Client Guide [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by The Dark Lord Of Terror »

Ok this is my guide on how to run two WoW clients on one computer at the same time. Or if you wish one can be for legit and the other can be for Private servers. I'll list it in steps.

1. Find where you installed WoW (should have patched it already) and copy the main folder to another location.

1.5 . If you didnt already patch it just drag the patch into the Copied folder and run it from there.

2. Try to run WoW if it fails then go back into main folder and go to the data folder find a file called "patch.mpq" and copy it.

3. Now copy that file into the copied WoW folder but inside of the data folder should look excatly like the one you copied the file from. Press yes to copy over it.

4. Attempt to run two Clients at the same time it SHOULD work if it doesnt then feel free to ask for clarification on any of the steps.

I hope this is helpful for everyone that wants access to legit and non-legit servers like me ........

If your running a version above 1.8.0 or an improperly edited 1.10.0 version that will cause it. Please make sure to reference: http://forumshq.com/showthread.php?t=10366 on proper installation for our private server.

Ok, so would it be viable to attempt this?:

1) Copy existing (Legit) WoW folder to a temporary folder

2) Uninstall WoW

3) Install WoW

4) Copy new install, then overwrite files with existing legit data copied earlier (WoWLegit)

5) Patch new install (WoWPrivate)

6) Run program from whichever directory I intend to play from (Legit, Private)

Just curious, so I don't have to re-patch legit files.

Already dreading the 4-disc install process.
