Ok so the other day i decided to get off my lazy ass and update windows. I clicked the windows Update icon and... Freeze up. I force closed it and tried doing it manualy. Locked up again. It seems i cannot get to my windows Update at all. Also for some reason my Symantec Real time protection stopped working. I virus scanned it using 3 diffrent scanners and none of them returned anything so it looks like its clear of a virus.
Anyone know what could cause my lock ups?

Maybe your Symantec install is screwed up. Try uninstalling it and see if Windows Update starts working. Then reinstall Symantec (or not).

What i ended up doing was the following:
I uninstalled Symentec and reinstalled to get it working 100%
I uninstalled my Java platform (it somehow got corrupted)
I Uninstalled and Re Installed IE 6 plus all the updates
and now it works.
