well, i want to see how much ram it takes up in linux, i hope i can compensate with 256MB vram for the lack of 1GB system ram and still use high quality setting with some AA/AF.... lets just wait and see man

I've been dying to play but I'm waiting for the Xbox version to be released, but I may go ahead and get the PC version. What's stopping me is my system...

AMD Thunderbird 1333

512 DDR Ram

ATI Radeon 9600 128DDR

Western Digital Caviar 7200 RPM 60 Gb HD

AOpen KT-444 Motherboard or something to that effect...

Antec TruePower 400+(can't remember exactly) Watt

CoolerMaster Jet7 Blower/Fan

I also have a laptop...

Pentium 4M 1.5 Ghz

512 DDR Ram

ProSavage DDR Video chip

You guys think I can run it on these, decently? I'm not a HUGE graphics buff, I'm more on gameplay, so I don't need every last detail to be perfect... I know enough about computers to not break them (I'm A+ and Network+ certified, but of course that just means I'm certifiably able to tie my shoes and turn the system on), so do any of your experts opinions suggest this system might handle Doom? I think my only drawback, if any, would be the CPUs...
