Yeah I had seen it on the news yesterday. KFC says they will not buy their chickens from that farm and does not condone the unfair treatment of those animals. I mean, I am not shocked nor suprised at this. My question is why they do that? To get out agression, because they can, one started doing it so they all do it, are they weeding out the bad ones, were they told? I mean I don't know... i don't pay close enough attention to things of those matters. It happens in so many "livestock" farms that it has pretty much lost it's shock value.

Why does it matter? They are going to die anyways.. *shrug* I do see it to be odd and woder why they would do such things but the end result is them dieing anyway.. *shrug*

I was thinking the same thing Unabomber... if anything you can argue that it's all part of nature. Lions kill prey by biting their neck veins until they bleed to death or lose conciousness and then die. That seems pretty slow and horrible to me.

Those chickens are bred in captivity for the purpose of eating.

Tool said it best with their parody of these hippies that cry about animal rights... "These are the cries of the carrots, the carrots! You see Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day, and to them, it is the Halocaust."

Then they go on to sing a statement that best suits this situation: "Life feeds on life."

The argument is also the same for death row inmates. They're gonna die anyway..why waste the cotton swab and alcohol on the injection spot? As if they're gonna be around long enough for an infection to set in...

Same with old sparky..don't wet the sponge..screw em..if they're on death row, they did some heinous acts that deserve a slightly less than humane death, if that's how our justice system deems a fit punishment.

However, to comment directly on the chicken slaughter house...Yeah, the end result is the chicken are gonna die and be food...however, even animals don't deserve such painful and long deaths like that. As with any being, animal or mammal, when death is innevitable, quick and painless is often the 'right' thing..the only time I would cause someone/thing a slow, painful death, is in the death row incidents listed above.

On a personal note - I just have to say, that video sickened me. At first I thought it was a hidden cam, but one guy obviously knew it was there as he picked one up and showed it to the cam as he walked by...I am personally repulsed and sickened by that video; and it takes ALOT to sicken and repulse me.

That video just helps reaffirm my disdain for this human race.

I don't think anyone can argue that they deserve a quick and painless death. But that stuff is always going to happen, so it just seems like a waste of resources to stop this from happening when they're going to die anyway.

Don't think that I agree with it though. I'm so for animals I don't even like veterinarians. Yes animals get sick, but that's nature. I don't believe in interfering with nature. I've never had pets but when strays come around my house I let them stay in my garage and I give them 1 meal a day. It is the animals responsibility to hunt and gather food. And Vets are just people who feed off the emotions of people who love their pets so much they'd do anything for it. Yes they're fixing animals, but did the animal asked to be fixed? And then to put them down when the situation is "hopeless"... the conceit of humans to think that some pseudo-science can take the place of a higher power is amazing.

That video was disgusting, and morally wrong. Regardless of what the birds were bred for.

I somewhat agree with you to a point. Except that it is mankind that has enslaved animals, and in doing so has stripped them of thier natural instincts.

How many domestic cats & dogs do you know that can hunt for themself?

My brothers dog is labeled as "a viscious animal" because he kills cats, my view is, IF Merlin can catch a cat, then that cats deserves to die because it has become fat and lazy, and has forgotten how to run from a dog.

My dog was also listed as viscious, however for hevy she was listed as that because of her breed. (Coyote / Border Collie cross) And she was the nicest and friendliest dog I had ever owned. (She died 2 years ago, from old age, she was 15)

My sister has 2 Hybreds, wolf / malamute cross, and they're both friendly, and the distric of North Van has them also listed.

Vets are like human doctors, they dont give a shit about anything except how much money they can make. No one in my family goto doctors (of any sort) and we're all very healthy. All of our pets have been (are) fed natural food (raw meat), and they get all the nutriants they need from it too fend off the shit that other animals get.

I don't think I expressed myself clearly enough because you and I are on the exact same wavelength when it comes to animals. Speaking from my own personal experience only, though, I've noticed that cats lose their instincts less quickly than dogs. But what you said is extremely correct. Humans have robbed them of their instincts, and it is disgusting. In fact, I put that on the same level as torturing the chickens. To make animals as fat and lazy and worthless as we have become is just as horrible as torturing the chickens.

But my point about the video is that yes, it's disgusting. I turned it off halfway, in fact. But it's no use fighting when they're going to die anyway. It's like MrBlack said about the death row inmates... why take precautions to prevent infection when they're about to die?

Any creatures that we've made--that didn't exist until we created them--are our responsibility. Take cats, dogs, cows, chickens: they were created from real animals, but are so far removed that they're not able to live without us. If we stopped eating cows, they'd go extinct, like their ancestor, the auroch.

Some animals are bred to die, and some to be pets, but none are bred to be tortured. Torture of animals is a great way to spot future serial killers. Even if you don't believe a living creature has a right to as painless a death as we can conveniently give it, what does it say about the people who would hurt them for enjoyment?

I can't stand PETA, but I'd have to agree with them on at least one thing: animals will kill for food, but they wont torture for fun.

Also, Tracy Bingham would make a great pot roast

PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals :D :D

The impact of mankind on all animals is apalling, how many species have become extinct, because of Man's interference, regardless of the industry.

How many people go hunting just for the sport of it.

We are at the very top of the food chain, yet the only thing that hunts and kills humans, is humans and in certain countries it's deemed illegal.

So now our species has become over abundant, and the animal kingdom suffers because of our speceis.
