I used to be one of those potheads you refer to it, and I dont see anything wrong with it. I stil did just as much as anyone else it did not slow me down. Only reason I quit was cause of my job. Dont get me wrong I feel better now that I dont, but I would go right back to being a pothead if I could.

I am totally the last person anyone would think of as all for leagalization of marijuna, As I am HIGHLY allergic to the stuff. Please Dont say "pity, or that sucks or any of the other bullshit and people spew"

I have tried to smoke it may ways, the last time (about 3 years ago, in a vaporizer) Legally I was dead for 4 mins, I stopped breathing.

I can eat it however. Tho I choose not to as I dont like the feeling of being stoned. WHen I was younger and knew I couldn't smoke pot, I moved to other things, tried Hash (same effect as pot), found acid and coke, that was a messed up 10 years.

Got turned off really quit when I tried to main line coke, and that fucked me up, and my older brother punch the living shit outta me for doing so.

I also was heavily addicted to prescription drugs as a child, thanx to my family doctor, when they told my Parents that I was ADHD and had to be heavily medicated to function in the real world. Name an upper or a downer and I have probably taken it at one time, including some that are now banned in Canada.

Now the hardest drug I use is alcohol and coffee. Maybe the odd tylenol one in a while.

Allow me to be frank, to someone who obviously enjoys pot or at least supports the legalization of pot. I know one too many potheads out there. I mean the habitual, wake and bake types. I would not want to see my child end up like that, nor anyone elses child. That isn't a life, it's a conviction to eternal idiotic escapism. I am not saying that pot cannot be used as a recreational drug, ONCE IN A WHILE.. but come on... the pothead life is no life at all. Unfortunately making it legal or keeping it illegal will not change a damn thing AND furthermore if it was not pot it would be something else.

This is a moment where you need to open your eyes and realize that not everyone out there is exactly like you, or the potheads that you know. I'm 21 years old, I have been a pothead for six years. I currently smoke three to seven grams a day of my personal homegrown. That's about an eighth a day on weekdays to upwards of a quarter on weekends, and that's personal, not to mention the amount of it that goes on my friends. Lately I've tapered off a bit with my girlfriend and other activities, but the fact remains the same, I'm one of those potheads you speak about. Habitual, wake and bake, every day, I'm currently sitting at work at 8:10am and I'm high as a kite.

Now, when you say the pothead life is no life at all, I personally take a small amount of offense to that, since I run a pothead life, and you have no idea what I do. I make good money, I stay in shape, I study, I visit my parents, I go on roadtrips, I meet women, I clean my house, I take care of my shit, and I do all of this stoned. I'm not attempting to forget, I'm not attempting to dull pain, I'm not attempting to void out reality, I'm simply flyin high livin life one day at a time.

I can understand where you're coming from when you say a pothead life is no life at all, as I don't fit into your caste system so well, but I do know people of whom you are speaking. Those who do nothing but get high all day and drag around, so pathetic and useless, running from their memories and problems. I just want you to realize that it is not because of marijuana. It is because of their upbringing, and their current status in life. If they knew what it meant to be proud of your accomplishments, have a drive to get out there and make something of themselves, then they wouldn't let it run their life. It's about making choices, making sacrifices, and having a good time.

I like how you said you wouldn't tell your children to not experiment, and tell them to be responsible. That's what more children need these days, not necessarily the permission to go out there and do drugs, but the encouragement that you can make your own decisions and figure out what you want to do with yourself. These potheads that sit around all day and can't accomplish shit simply don't know what it means to have encouragement.

All I'm trying to say is that you can't blame the drug, you have to look deeper into the person. By taking the drug away, the person still has the same problems, they simply don't have the outlet that they once had. Whether or not it is a good outlet is moot, the fact remains that they'll attempt to find another outlet once one is gone. There are far deeper problems in a persons life than marijuana if they are using it as an escape. If you remove the marijuana, you simply remove the escape, you have to remove the problem, not their solution. The problem is that they were never shown the way to deal with their problems, or possibly not get into the problems in the first place.

Bleah, I'm gonna stop now cause I'm just being redundant.

My children will be what they want to be, but when the time comes for them to have to make that choice, I will be damn sure that they know how to deal with it. I won't attempt to shelter them from the truth, from the fact that there are drugs out there and that they do alter your reality and way of thinking. They will be prepared, and if they choose to become a pothead, I will stand by them 100% and guide them, not shun them.

I mean it is your choice... I don't know you so I can't say that you are doing something wrong or not, it isn't my place. But there are legal ramifications for your actions.. pot is illegal.. growing it, selling it, posessing it.. it's all illegal. I would say that is my number one problem with it, when it came to my child. Not only is it hard to find a good job, but you can forget government work as they do hair sampling... most employers do drug screening.. especially for specialized work. If they somehow get arrested and jailed for things associated with pot... there goes a lot of education, time, and money right out that door. It's like good luck supporting your family from JAIL. I just don't see the need to be altered every day of your life... pot, alcohol, painkillers... that is addiction. I just don't understand what is so wrong with reality that someone needs to alter it everyday. It seems more of a personal/mental problem than anything else. There is a good portion of those who do it to self-medicate without even realizing it. Most have ADD, borderline personality, are bi-polar, or suffer from depression. Just because you can function on drugs doesn't nessacarily mean you should or that is the best way to operate. I guess I don't understand why you do it?

Which is exactly why pot should be legal.

Tobacco is HIGHLY addictive, it isn't the number 1 cause of cancer, it doesn't have about a 100 different chemicals added to it. "is legal"

(i'm an ex smoker, I smoked for 20+ years, I finally quit late December)

Alcohol kills more innocent people because of Drunk Drivers, destroys the liver, is highly addictive, and is legal.

Perscription drugs...... need I say more?

Pot illegal? Why? because the drug companies make too much money from the effects of tobacco and other cancer causing agents.

If my kids smoke pot, then I'll support them, because they should have the freedom to choose what they want to do. I would be more concerned about them smoking tobacco or drinking than I would about pot.

How often have you seen this senerio:

in today's news a Teenager was driving his car at excessive speeds and killed 4 people including himself. Police suspect he had been smoking excessive amounts of Marijuana.

How many news stories do you see with the same senerio, but ending with Alcohol?

That is why I said the following "Alcohol, pot, X, vicodin... each drug is completly used as an escape and not just as recreation or medicinally. Most of these drugs have some kind of medicinal use, but unfortunately the human population has raped the exploitable uses of these drugs."

I don't have a problem with most drugs.. I have a problem with the people. I am sick of people raping drugs for all they are worth... I don't like how people alter their reality on a daily basis... it puts up a huge red flag for me. I like being in reality and I request my firends, family, and love interests remain in reality in my prescence. I also do not allow illegal drugs around my person in the slightest. I have a child... and I am not going to expose my 1 and a 1/2 year old to it.. and im certainly not going to have my daughter taken away cause some idiot friend/boyfriend of mine wants to alter his/her reality for kicks. The "fun" does not outweigh the risks. And personally, I don't think pot is "fun." Shrug.. my opinion anyway.
