Taking out Dings? [Archive] - ForumsHQ
I have a few small dings/dents, and Was just curious how I could get these taken out? Ive looked/remember seeing those "Ding King" things with the little suction cup on TV, do those really work? Also ive heard some people suggest dry ice? (no clue how I could use it on a dent), but ive also heard people say that does not work for them. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Depends on how big the ding is and if you will need to have it painted. You either 1 remove dinged panel and hammer it, or use bondo on it and have it repainted. There's probably more options but I'm not that savvy on this subject.

There small dents/dings. The paint isnt chipped or anything, so dont think it will need repainting

Sorry to dig this up but I missed it first time around.
The suction cup dent-pullers only work on very specific kinds of dents, and definitely not the typical dings most cars get. Same thing with dry ice. And definitely don't try banging it out from the other side or bondo-ing it unless you know what you're doing - or you're sure to end up with a result far worse than just leaving the dent the way it is.
Your best bet for most dings that haven't scratched or chipped the paint is to call one of those paintless dent removal guys. A lot of them also do touch-ups in the case of gouges that have gotten through the paint. Plus, they're usually mobile, which makes it nice as well.
The bottom line is that when it comes to bodywork, a shitty repair will always look worse than the original damage.
