Ok given the new 2004 GTO has failed to live up to projected sales and will probably get axed, I'm doing a little Pontiac tribute. Back to the 70s when Pontiac made the fastest showroom stock standard sporty cars. The 1973/74 SD 455 & 1977-79 W72 400 Trans Ams got 1/4 mile in 13.56 & 14.6 seconds in Hot Rod magazine, 1973 & 1979 respectively. :)

Even the automatic 1981 turbo 4.9 Trans Am kicked butt that year when it got 16 seconds flat on ultra low octane gas and the Camaro Z/28 got 16.5, and a 4 speed Corvette got 17 seconds flat in Road & Track that year.

Trans Am, king of 1973-81!

Oh yeah now that's my kind of car! I saw one just like that black one at the last car show I was at. Finally somebody who appreciates good ol' american muscle, instead of the little 4 cylinders everybody likes for some strange reason.

That's a great looking 3rd gen, I find the 1982-85 shape cars were the nicest looking of that generation. Did the car come with the Chevy LG4 305 4 bbl motor originally?
