7532?4||| !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to lay down in a shallow grave now.



For no reason whatsoever that I can tell, new monsters that I was trying to get to work correctly started naming themselves "7532?4[][]" (where [] represents to my best ability the ascii "square" character thats a small square).



So after hours of messing with it trying to fix it. tweaking values, running database recoveries, cleanups, triple-checking values, etc, I ended up deleting the monsters, resetting the rooms to completely normal, no-regenable rooms, and starting over. Same thing. Then I noticed that *EVERY SINGLE TEXTBLOCK* in nightmare editor now ends with that! "7532?4|||", and textblocks which were previously emtpy ARE that. Including textblock 0 0.



So I checked lastnights backup. Its that way too. ANd the night before. Its that way also. So I run to my in-game NPC's and talk to them. Hrm, funny, I don't see any "7532?4" at the end of their conversations, like the textblocks show in nightmare editor tell me are there. What the fuck?



So after completely pulling my hair out over the issue, I double check all sorts of areas. Nothing seems to be affected by this new "7532?4" parasite except my new areas. The fact that its at the end of every textblock in my database doesn't seem to phase mud. Mud seems to know what that is and ignore it, not printing it to the screen in-game.



Then suddenly the monsters I had been trying to stop regenning with that name all night just started regenning correctly named out of nowhere. Seems I just had to wait a few hours for mud to get its act straight.



This entire incident makes me think that I have some evil demon in the spiritworld after me. I searched for this all through forums and never saw anything like it.



Has anybody ever heard of something as bizarre as this before? Ever.

tools --> textblocks --> strip characters off the end --> --> OK
