Hola
At a casual glance, the edits look fairly balanced. Although there are some aspects I still have problems with but whatever.
As a person in love with neutrality and the philosphy of balance I still feel that
the new edits are a bit unbalanced. This leads to unfair gameplay and such. Let me illustrate one such strata of data: races.
In the original races, the stats generally follow the basic criteria of a race. Also it "generally" follows that the more bonuses you have the higher the exp chart.
Now if we were to pick a race with a high bonus feature similar to thri-keen that
race would be a dark-elf.
Dark-elf stats: 45% exp chart illu +80, racestealth, +1 crits +3 acc
Thri-keen stats: 45% exp chart pu damage +3, ac +3, DR, illu +50, crits +1
comparing the 2, it is obvious that thri-keen has a much added bonus over the
dark-elf. Also the ac +3 and the bonus DR is very VERY good for a mud that has
switched over to relying on AC more than ever.
The most bonuses the original races have per race is 3 extra bonuses per race. Dark-elf is the only exception having 4. Nekojin has 4 but one of them is
rcol -10 so that doesn't count
But all the new races except one have many bonuses averageing form 4-5 most being insanely positive unbalancing the original races and skewing the realm
I don't mind the new races, hell I helped a little bit by balancing them. I've really liked what I've seen so far by the new races but I still think that there are some more minor edits to be done.
That and the quest weapons have the same problem. I've only seen a couple but they're bonuses "far" outstrip the original qweapons in terms of stats. Balancing is very hard to do but very key. Hence all those letter updates to mud. You'll never get it all right but you have to keep trying.
If your one of the new races, I'm sure you'll hate me but hell balancing is everything. Remember mystics back in the day? I remember my friend Fire accidently 2 rounded LOTH by mistake when we ran into him. He can't do it now because they've downgraded mystics but people still play them.
Having a fair realm is more fun because it involves skill in the user and not just relying on your stats to win.
My 2 cents.

Dark-elf stats: 45% exp chart illu +80, racestealth, +1 crits +3 acc
Thri-keen stats: 45% exp chart pu damage +3, ac +3, DR, illu +50, crits +1
That DR ability doesnt have a value, thus I am assuming its zero. Pu dmg doesnt mean much overall really, who uses pu? mystics/oracles/monks. They go to jumpkicks later on, so it becomes useless anyways..

Re: Concerning Edits
Thri-keen's blow and should not be 45% IMO..thats what I used when I played a monk, and it was one of the most horrible mystic-type races I've ever used..
The stats look good on paper..but that race really blows. As far as balance..yeah maybe a few things need balancing..but every BBS is like that..morbid is less unbalanced than most other places, so shrug.
BTW, race exp % isn't solely based off bonuses..it has more to do with stats than anything.

Re: Concerning Edits
i've found that most of the new races with all their bonuses (like 10/1 ac, or +5 crits, or +3 ac, or +5 punch damage, etc) have shitty stats
look at 'em

Dark-elf stats: 45% exp chart illu +80, racestealth, +1 crits +3 acc
Thri-keen stats: 45% exp chart pu damage +3, ac +3, DR, illu +50, crits +1
you have to show all stats for a real comparison ...
#: 7, Name: Dark-Elf, Exp: 45%, HP: 0
Str: 40-120
Int: 50-150
Wis: 30-130
Agi: 50-150
Hea: 30-120
Cha: 40-140

#: 15, Name: Thri-Keen, Exp: 45%, HP: 0
Str: 50-120

Wis: 20-110
Agi: 55-160
Hea: 40-130
Cha: 20-100
Abilities: PunchDmg +3, AC +3, Illu +50, Crits +1
and yes, the "DR" on Thri-Keen is 0, i'll try to temmber to take that out. so we've got dark-elfs with 30 more int, 20 more wis, 10 less agil, 10 less health, and 40 less charm. Racestealth i'd say outweighs AC+3, and the punch damage is class specific so that would be a reason for the class to pick it. i think thri-keen would make a good rogue.

you messed that up at the end there, you should say

Re: Concerning Edits
I'm not bashing the edits or the people who are doing the edits, hell I helped balance some of them. One in particular was the brooch of peace and qweaps. Thank me b/c that brooch used to be like 125 or 200 encum which was very weird for a brooch.
Anyways I give props to the people who edit them b/c its a tough job and people always hate the editors.
I just think that there should be a little more ongoing balance for the edits. Maybe raise something, maybe lower something, just to make it balanced and fair.
yea.
btw where was the thread moved to ?
