Visual Studio .NET 2003 and McAfee [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by syntax53 »

I just installed VS.NET 2003 and when it went to launch for the first time McAfee stopped this from running. I can't find much on the internet other then a few other people that had similar problems, but there were no good responses. The file ("devenv.exe") turns up a lot of results, but it's all on CPU utilization. I can't find anything on McAfee's site or Microsoft's site about that file. I assume it stands for "Development Environment" but it could have a script embeded in it.

I searched for "devenv.exe regread" (without the quotes) thinking that would yield the most results, and turned up none on google. I also tried "devenv.exe script", and "devenv.exe virus". Since there isn't anything out there I just hope it isn't something new. Has anyone else seen this?

I attached a screen cap of the message box.

Thanks,

syn

Mcaffee stops scripts that could be potenially hazardous to your computer, so obviously visual studio .net is something that could possiblely do it, just ignore always and it should be fine. Weather or not its really hazardous or not. Really nothing to worry about, I have since stopped using mcaffee prolly switch to norton if they fixed the update problem.
